Default Hello from Canada

Geed Evening Everyone, forgive me for not introducing myself earlier, but I am a little computer slow, and took me till almost this evening to "get" postings and threads, nto to mention navigating around this big huge place. <smiles> I am located in BC, Canada, on an island, in a town called Campbell River. I have 3 autistic children, all under the age of 5, my forte is celtic soapstone carvings as well as some celtic style art, along teh lines of fantasy. I absolutely adore painting and drawing as it is my wind down time, and my sanity, like most peopel who love the pencil/paint/mediums I keep odd hours, sometimes up to 10 hours in front of a painting, hence the airbrush, I received one for xmas, in hopes to speed up my process <smiles> but I am hesitant in this new area. How do you all select your pciture? I notice some fantastic peices on gas tanks, cars, and other areas, how can you not break out in a sweat for something so permanent, and what if no one likes it? Do you repaint over them? Everyone here has exceptional talents, and very good eye for detail, I use the grid system to enlarge a drawing, I use a ruler, and make ice cube boxes then number, but erasing all the lines takes forever, but some of you I am green with envy at your enlarging abilities, I am a cat woman, love tigers, lions, jaguars, its the eyes, I just love the glossiness, I am trying to select my first person to airbrush, and think the greys, blacks and blues would be a good choice of shading and toning as flesh color would be to daunting and a task indeed, how do you all who do portraits find the subject, is it by color, pose, light? Anyways I am babbling on, time for me to get on to bed, and bath and then lay awake till 4 am thinking of new pictures, lol <waves goodnight>

Just wanted to say welcome. You've picked a great place to find info and techniques and to make friends along the way. Good luck with your new airbrush.

Hello & Welcome sounds like you got your hands full w/3 children. Lots of Artists use a projector to enlarge drawings. Cats Big & little are great subjects and are fun to paint & yes the eyes bring the subjects to life. Also black & white portraits are great for learning just be patient learning with the airbrush it takes lots of practice and Have Fun!

Welcome Natcusack to the forum, may I suggest the free "how to" lessons here on the site, it is very important to get the fundementals with an airbrush down and these are a good place to start. This is a tool unlike any other you have used in your art career, without the fundementals you will never reach your airbrush potential. Looking forward to seeing you post some of your work.
