Golden fluid acrylics vs. Golden pro fluid acrylics

I went to Michaels craft store to get some golden paints since everybody has said how great they are. Once I began looking at them I realized that they had a small set of seven or eight bottles for $30.00. I picked them up and started reading the box and they also contain lead and say specifically "Do not spray, product contains lead" I pick up the regular golden fluid acrylic paint is fine to spray. I thought there was a regulation against lead in paint or is that only for interior/exterior house paint.
To the newbies just be careful which paint you get.

I bought golden airbrush colors from dixie art... I just read the bottle ,there dosent seem to be lead in them....my buddy told me they also banned lead from automotive paints ....

I got a bottle of black golden paint and mine said something about it may cause cancer in lab rats. I’m not a rat so I guess I’m okay being human and all. All kidding aside it did say something about cause cancer so I will reread my bottle and follow the manufactures recommendations.

look at the paint I think you got the wrong type of paint make sure it's AIRBRUSH paint Golden makes a lot of different paint sounds like you got the type thats used for "brush" painting not airbrushing hope this helps

The golden fluid acrylics that I just received have the notice about "may cause cancer" this is placed on there because of the stringent rules that California has. If you go on their website they explain it in detail. They have special labels with an X in an orange box if Golden finds the paint to be harmful.... anyways check out their site it is amazingly descriptive. As for the lead in the original post I don't know anything about that but I am sure Golden can clear that up.

I just checked the golden sight and they say the pro set is ideal for spraying.
The msds sheet says cad. colors are the ones which contain lead.

Just to clear this up, I wasn't worried about the cancer label, I just wanted people to know that some of the golden paints contain lead. Thanks everyone for the additional information.

I read Mark Goldens blog on his cadmium paints the other night. they are in the process of developing new paints (pyrolls) or something like that so they eventually can do away with the cadmiums. he said this will take some time to research tho. he said it is another heavy metal that his employees dont need and the environment as well

Being a machinist by trade I know for sure that MOST metals when breathed can cause various amounts of damage. Cadmium and lead are high on the list for respiratory problems. Also some "rare earth" compounds used for pigments can cause a lot of problems if sprayed.
I would always use a respirator, even with the "non-toxic" acrilics, they are basically
a rubber compound and who needs rubber coated lungs!
