Zero...i know exactly what you are feeling....Total Frustration. Been there done that. Thier isnt anyone that airbushes at one time or another that hasnt felt your pain....Airbrushing has got a learning curve. And the only way you over come this is practice practice pratice....do your drills as often as you can ..by drills i mean. practice dagger strokes, line control,circles,ect... the internet is filled with this information. you HAVE to...learn these basic control technics. Try something like a dagger stroke of your choice either up,down , left or right...and do them until you can do them all perfectly. What I have done is Star Burst's till I was blue in the face...Why ? Because I could not do them..and did do em until I was satifisfied with the results..keep your drills and compare them.....I have been airbrushing for five years on and off... And i am still learning...Dont give up.

I hear ya'......But dont give up!
We've all been through it and broke through.
It helped me when I put up two mirrors and tried painting something ......
It'll drive you nuts but when you go back to doing it normally things change...
at least it did for me.
Make it fun and don't be embarassed to post stuff and ask questions, everyone here has done it and we all help each other.

Watch for evening seminars in your area. Steve Driscoll and Mickey Harris (among others) tour the country and give 4 or 5 hour demonstrastions. I have found these very helpfull as you learn quite a bit in a short period of time and the price is very reasonable.

I've gone back & reviewed some of of your work zero..For being self taught & on your own you've done better than most I've ever seen..The quality of work you're doing now could be taken on the road & even if you wrote a sloppy name you would still make money..Your Raiders shirt is better than mine!!.. The quality & style of your work especially as a beginner will vary..You'll get to thinking that you're pretty hot stuff because one turned out so well & then the next thing you do hits the trash can..This is not only commom but when you're green as a worm it's just the way it works..God humbles artists everyday & I think he takes great pleasure in doing it. I think all you need is more experience & I think much of your frustration comes because of yet you don't really have a style of your own. It would be a shame to lose you as an airbrush artist because you show sooo much potential..I think you have your black line drawing down pretty well--but now you have to show some spine & be less frightened of experimenting & especially shading--Be bold & set out to do as much damage as you can do--it's a mistake to want everything so perfect..if you want your style to be similar to mine you need to shadow more & outline most anything & of course don't forget stars & sparkles & lines & such..I try to show a lot of movement & then less critique errors can be found--I don't think you can hit a moving target & I use that to my advantage!! I'm just a flea market tshirt artist at the present time & this is what it takes.. If your plans are to take your art a step further & pursue a style like landsbro you take the same line drawing but work & refine it until it has a life like appearance...I don't think you get a style--I think it gets you..& only when you continue to plug away sometimes for a lengthy time will your work take on a look all of it's own & at that time there is no need to even sign it because it's obvious who's done it..It would be nice if you could find someone in your area to learn from but that rarely happens for any of us--seminars are usually far away & very costly & even then you may not get out of them what you're searching for..I don't think for a moment that you're going to hang it up because you've done far to well at this point to back away..The only reason I could find for your quiting the airbrush is if you don't truly enjoy it anymore..It doesn't matter if your work is good or bad if you don't have fun then chalk it up..

Zero,
I know how you feel. I got going again after many years being away from it.
The great thing now is this board. When I started doing this and pinstriping back around 1973, no one would share any information. I never really still
understand that.
I am sure that even many here have felt that way at one time or another. All of us have. You have the best people right here to help you anytime.
I just atended a Mickey Harris paint seminar a month ago. The 4 hours turned
into 6 hrs. He taught different methods that I never really tried. There were people older than me there. I left with a new outlook on doing this too.
Keep at it becouse you are just getting close to rocking and rolling.

Zman,

The biggest mistake in being in an artist is giving up. You will regret it forever and you will take it out on yourself and everyone around you for as long as you live.

I would look into classes, anything drawing wise. Most of art starts there, another suggestion is don't outline in black.

Good luck,
Gonzo
