Re: Fundamentals
You have no idea how much i like seeing stuff like this. Right now i have a dumpster full of practice sheets. Every rag in my house is covered with lines, dots, daggers, curly-cue thingies, etc. Your post showed me i'm not the only person who has to work his tail off to achieve my desired level of excellence . Thanks for your willingness to show us how much you do practice the fundamentals.

i am finally getting better at daggers

Re: Fundamentals
Thank you Mahem! I've been so discouraged in myself since I injured my hand almost a year ago. It's been a long recovery, but I'm almost 100% again.
I've been using Darla's article in #14 as physical theropy and it's worked great!
Boy, you don't know how many muscles you use in your hand to AB with until you've injured it! I've done lines, dots and daggers a few years back, but Darla's article shows how she structures everything on paper and to me, this just helps so much more then spraying at random.
Dots have been great in getting my trigger finger back in shape to learn paint flow and the lines and daggers help a bunch with AB control in general.

Re: Fundamentals
Maxx... I airbrush with my left hand....2 years ago....i was helping move some stuff down some stairs and the guy in the front jumped out of the way ...when he did that i got pulled off my feet and took the stiars on my chest....well i broke my left arm in two places...and crushed the bones between the wrist and my forearm including...the two in the arm had to have it opertated on ...they put a plate in my arm which restricted the movement of my arm and they said i would have limited mobility for the rest of my life... which really hindered my airbrushing ability... I have recovered almost 95% as of today...i still have a lot of pain... but when i got the cast off after 6 months of having it on....i couldnt do nothing with it...and mean nothing..i was hart broken... but with time and practice i am back to where i was when i broke my arm.... Dont give up...i know exactly how you are feeling....Buddy I do.
So dont give up keep practicing...and keep us posted on your recovery. you'll be good as new..soon

Re: Fundamentals
Kibzz, I would never give up! When I got my cast off, I could use my hand for limited things. I could hold a pencil, and write lightly, and while I could hold an exacto knife, I couldn't apply enough pressure to do any cutting. As far as pulling back the trigger on the AB, forget it! I only broke a couple bones in my hand and mangled some muscles and tendons when I got it caught between a rock and a hard place. That was last Nov. I'm pretty much recoverd now thanks to a lot of practice. I've only been ABing for a couple years now, off and on, mostly off, so I had to go back to basics to get the shakes out of my hand and learn control all over.
Thanks to people like Darla and Mayhem for showing me how and giving me the confidence to do so. Everyone here is wonderful. This site teaches much more then just spraying paint!

Re: Fundamentals
Man Maxx I know EXACTLY what your saying..man that hit home with me because I was the exact same way...My wrist still swells up when I AB fo more than a couple hours..then I stop.. Shakes...I still do...I have it some what under control..a little but when i do Daggers up ..they have a wiggle in them sometimes they are ok...but mostly they have the wiggle..Its constantly a battle...As i said before the Dr. said I probly would never play the piano again....I do and... I can ...He said probly no Ab'n ...and I do.. and can
Just goes to show...your more in control of your own self regardless what other people say... If you have the desire and determination to go forward. You can do anyhting...just set your mind in the direction and ...never look back. I hope you continue to improve...Maybe one day I'll pick up a Ab Mag and see Maxx with his Art. Dont give up...Get er Done. Smilies
