I think it's real sharp--you'll be very excited when you see it cleared..I don't really like to clear mostly because I'm no good at it, but it makes such a great difference & I think you'll be very pleased..nice job!!

Looks good. When clear is on it will really look good. You are
off to a great start. And have fun doing it to.

Question Re: friend`s helmet

right.... ive cleared the helmet but there was a lot of "bits" in the clear (filter got dislodged)...so i let it dry for a couple of days, rubbed with 1200 then 1500 wet and dry.... re-cleared it today but there a few tiny bits in it... enough to spoil it... i was reading about rubbing compound, and the seem to say that they will bring surfaces to a smooth high gloss finish and will take the "scratches" from sanding with 1500 wet and dry.... is this true?.... basically.. if i rub it with 1500 wet and dry, and then use compound... will this fix my gritty clearcoat?

thanks Dave

what i do, after the 1500 wet sand, is to use 2000 wet. it seems to help with getting the scratches out and makes buffing with polishing compound a breeze. i used to stop at 1500, then buff, but it took quite a bit to do it. i tried 2000 for a final sand and it make the buffing real easy and quick...hope this helps......

well its finished, and it doesnt look too bad even if i say so myself....
i gave it a light sand with 1500 wet and dry to get the nibs off.. then used a rubbing compound.. i was a bit hesitant cos i didnt wanna "burn" it with the drill attachemt sponge...not sure how wet to keep the sponge but it was ok... then i polished it with a high gloss polish... put the bits back on and whey hey...FINISHED
