Hello Cuda, welcome to the forum..for first time attempts these are worthy of positive comments..you just have to keep at it..they both show that you desire to learn & that's most important of all..I hope to see a lot more from you.. Show me a few of your dots & daggers--those are really my favorite things to view & I would probably have a whole lots more to comment on..

i'm guessing you have craig fraser's book.....excellent and full of info, by the way. appears you are off to a good start. the only thing i can contribute as far as help is that when using stencils, like your skull, the object is to make it NOT look like a stencil. you've got to go in and define and carve out some features. develope the teeth and brow line, add some shading. take the hard lines from the stencil and soften them up. like for example the dark spaces at the top of the teeth where the teeth would be connected into the skull, join those by rounding off the top of the tooth. the shading at the top gives good roundness to the top. if you look in the skulls contest thread, i posted 2 white and purple skulls that were done with stencils, and started out looking just like yours. but i went in and put in some features. start out soft and light and build up your lines. i,m going to stop now i think i'm rambling and not making any sense. hope that helps in some strange way.
keep at it! good work.

Hi, welcome !

If your going to use stencils - which is fair enough, try using a light grey to shoot through them.
bure black, and pure white are rarly used in airbrushing. theyre some times just TOO strong.

When beginning, think in 5 levels.

level 1:White
level 2:Light Grey
level 3:Medium grey
level 4ark Grey
level 5:Black

try mixxing a small amount of each, ready to spray, use
#2 ( light grey) to rough out your work, or blow through your stencils. then start adding areas of shading with this colour, it will act as a kind of underpainting.

the bulk of your detail will eb done with the medium grey ( #3 ) and so on.

the beauty of these 3 shades is that its not over complicated. but by sticking to number 2. 3, and4 you ALWAYS have the possibility of making certain things alot lighter ( extreme highlights / reflections) and darker ( extreme shadows ) with #1 and #2

Try it out
