You might try free hand sheilds for the stems.

I love your painting..I think it's very thought out & you show a natural knack for shading..it's very creative & I would hesitate being critical..each one you do will get better.. I usually work from light to dark & I think it helps avoid getting too dark too quick as you did here.. Smooth clean lines come with practice, & for the time being I wouldn't worry so much about overspray-- you handled it real well on this one.. When working freehand, overspray can be expected & you must learn to use it to your advantage..overall I think you did real well-- I hope your luck continues to hold!!

You didn't mention what support this is painted on, or what brush and paint was used.
I would assume you used masking for the background and flowers?
For a smoother line on the stems without masking, you can uses a free hand shield.. fancy name for a french curve... hold it along your line and spray a narrow line along the edge. then go back and fill in the leaf without the sheild in place.
Use as little air pressure as possible and still get good atomization. Keep your brush close to the support, work from the edge of the stem/leaf where you have your sharp line towards the center, keeping the spray kind of pointed more to the center if you know what I mean.. Don't try and cover in one pass, use narrow over lapping lines.
All the apove will help produce a sharper edge with less over spray.

Very nice work for a beginner.

As was said before, the only point to change is the green that is too dark.

Do not worry too much for now about the overspray, it's not so bad. Keep on practicing as you did for this one, and then try to use a freehand stencil when you feel ready for it. You're doing good for now.
