Default Finished Hard Hat - Thank you everyone who helped!

Want to thank everybody again for the advice.......just cleared the hat.....will let it sit for a day or two, lightly wet sand and buff with a micro buffer, then it's payday!

The waterslide worked great for this, I burried the edges in clear, and didn't have to worry about masking the letters out and cutting by hand......or pulling up the paint if the mask was too aggressive.

Darla,

You mentioned liquid sandpaper......where can I get it, or read up on it? Would definately like to use it for any other hard hat / baseball hats I do in the future.

Thanks again!

Edit - "Wow, I got to get a better camera, these pics look aweful.....well, guess that's why I'm a painter, not a photographer"

Your helmet turned out very well BDC, but it just makes you sick even thinking that there's a chance of peeling..I can't remember who told me about this but I certainly think it helps--It sure can't hurt..I knew I had seen Liquid sandpaper before but when I went to the giant Lowes (very near to me) they had only the deglosser & the man assured me it was the very same thing?? When I paid a visit to a privately owned little hardware we have, there sat the Liquid sandpaper right on the shelf & I think I liked the results better..To be honest, I haven't used it enough to give an opinion--I know I never want to see another peel.. It's a scary sight!! Hope this helps a little..

Looks good but just wondering what you did to get the paint to stick to those hats? I refuse to do them because nothing I've done makes the paint not come off.

I tried every kind of sanding and adhesion promoter and nothing sticks to that plastic. It looks like it works but as soon as I put some masking tape over the work and rip it off the paint comes off like a sticker.

Did you test to see if the paint won't come off? I had 5 helmets like yours cleared and all, and when I did the tape test it peeled right off. So I stopped doin them. I'd hate to give it to a customer and they scratch the paint and happen to go and pick the scratch and the paint comes off in a big sheet.
just wondering if you have a way to make it stick or maybe it's not a big deal and it isn't a paying job.

Thanks Jammer
