Default F22 with VL on illustration board

This is the last piece I airbrushed. I did it at work for my employer. I used very light weight vellum for frisket and sprayed it heavily with highly reduced rubber cement. Masked only the plane and runways.

Looks great, I especially like how you handled the trees in the background.

I really like the depth, and in flight feeling, with the background. <smiles> its nice and pleasing to look at. Certainly a good art conversation peice to debate techniqes, and color. How long did it take for you to do this peice?

Thanks for the compliments. I work for a contractor on an airbase. I was asked by my boss to do this piece to promote local interest in the F22. The airfield in the background is the actual base where I work. I used a photo from the manufacturer’s website as a guide to paint the F22. The delivered planes were not painted in this scheme. I spent most of a week on a full sheet of illustration board. The background took quite a long time. I only masked the waters edge, the plane and the runways. I freehanded all of the ground-cover. It was hard to model the buildings. I tried to mask them, but they look too crisp. So I freehanded them and they look too soft. Also, I wish I had painted in some heat distortion behind the plane.
