Default Dead Air Brush

Well may Paasche's Model VL is no longer working and after many attemps to fix I just decided to get a new one.( I have had this for more than 5 years) I wanted to by the same VL like I had before but I noticed there is the VLST Pro. Does any one know if this would be a good upgrade from the VL and do you have to by a size 3 and a size 5 (2 airbrushes) or can you change tips? I am mainly interested in doing a variety of painting anything from T-shirts to maybe later auto type work. I am still basically a beginner with a dead airbrush so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Could you give a more detailed description on "dead Airbrush"? I'm sure there is enough knowledge on here to help you identify the problem, or are you just looking for a good reason to purchase another one ?.....................Kwit

westmc45, welcome to the board..I've had a dead Vl before & just replaced 3..sometimes I think I've just worked them out (& I have some guilt for not always treating them with love!! lol!) after 5 yrs. mine would have well paid for themselves but I still hate to replace them.. I wish I knew of a place or someone to send them to for a re-condition & a complete overhaul but by the time you replace all the parts in the inner-ginnards I think the expense would be just about as much & you're just as well to get a new one..I upgraded to an Iwata Eclipse for my main color black & I'm very happy with it..it's capable of getting a finer line & uses only one tip & needle but it's more expensive to replace these..
It's a pleasure to meet you & I hope you enjoy your stay..

What I mean by DEAD is its just worn out and the piece where the body connects to the hose came loose and it leaks air all over the place.I had to do a quick fix with JB weld to finish my sons T-shirt. In reality I just want to get something else and wanted some ideas. Thanks for the help

I would recommend the Peak X-3 , Iwata BCS or Badger Anthem I have all three and I have put them through HEAVY use w/no problems.

The main difference between the 2 are that the vlst pro has a cut away handle, paint picker cap, a rounded trigger top, and the bottles screw on instead of push on. The last bit concerns me as you will not be able to use any other bottles or adapters except the Paasche bottles. If you want you can get the regular VL and put the cut away handle and paint picker cap on it.

I just got a few vlst pros, and you can use the bottles from your old vl. The screw on is just a little extra safety. I've also found that not all of the bottles will seat far enough into the AB for the threads to engage. Kinda afraid to force the bottle on tight enough to be able to use the threads, so they are just pressure fit.
