Another newbie, please help.
I just got an airbrush kit from eastwood. It came with gravity feed, double action brush, compressor, regulator, 6ft hose, and a sample pack of auto air transparent colors with reducer. Not sure what needle size it has. Have'nt used it yet, not sure where to start. What consistancy should the paint be (reducing ratio), what air pressure? Like I said another newbie, and excited to get started, please help? Thanx a whole lot.

Re: Another newbie, please help.
First off, welcome. There's a whole lot of knowledgable people here who are really great too. I'm pretty new also but I do fool around with auto air paints.I like the transparents.some you can use out of the bottle, some you need to reduce.I really dont know if there's a scientific method to it , i've been using "fantastic" cleaner mixed 50/50 with water then about 70/30 or 80/20 with the paint.
youll know when it flows well and you get good lines.
hope this helps,
Tim
also, what are you practicing on?

Re: Another newbie, please help.
The first thing you should do is a lot of reading. Scan the forums and read everything you can about getting started.
Not sure what model airbrush system you got, but it looks like item # 12570 which comes with an airbrush with a .3mm tip. Eastwood states using 15-30 psi with this brush. AutoAir states using 40 psi with their paints. The psi always changes depending on many factors. Start somewhere in that range and go from there.
AutoAir colors you can shoot straight out of the bottle, no reducing needed. Transparents are a bit thinner then Opaques so reducer shouldn't be needed at all. The thinner the paint the lower you can turn your psi.
There is much to learn and no one answer to any question.
Read as much as you can and learn more.

Re: Another newbie, please help.
Yes that airbrush indeed has a .3mm tip. Looks like a good brush, should be something you'll have for a while.
You'll want to get some more paints. If you plan on painting on a particular surface, ( metal ) you'll want to get paints made for this. AA paints are made for this and if you like what you have, stick to them. There are many others out there you can try also. Just get what is available to you.
