stripes and cool gold flake

Hey now folks. I guess this could have gone in what are you gonna do this week, but I did not know I would be doing it until I showed up Tuesday morning and the parts were on my to do bench. The parts are for a friend of the shop, a rep from Custom Chrome. He is going to display his bike at the C.C. booth at the Indian Larry Show in NYC later in Sept. and the Keno (bike builder, not the game) show the same weekend. Its a real cool bare bones style. Only bling is the flake!
Shop shot the base and nice heavy gold flake. My stripes and their clear and buff. Quick and fun. And I love the color.

Hey now R1. The flake used in that paint was (I think) HOK 64. I dont shoot the base, so I may be wrong. they have some killer colors. We call them bass boat colors. Blue, red, gold, silver whatever. Theres a bunch of them. And you can shoot them over black to get the best effect or any other color to tone it down.
the flake is mixed into the clear or an intemidiate clear.

That is tasty work!!!!!!!!!! Nice flake color. Pinstriping
is super. Very nice two color design!! I remember many
moons ago when you wanted to spray flake, you got
a one pound bag and had to mix it in clear acrylic lacquer
and put ball bearings in the bottom of a spray gun to keep
it agitated. What a mess and pain and you had to spray tons
of clear to even get it to level out. Then being lacquer the
paint job with all the labor would crack and craze in no time.
Its so cool to see paint companies come out with products
that last and not so labor intensive.

very nice work tabg. wantedR1 you can go to any automotive paint supplier in your area and you should be able to get flakes like that. SEM Color Horisons has colors like that as well. It is available from painters supply and equipment.

Thanks for the advice witchybronco and dtownpainter.... I went to the paint store a long time ago and they had a few "blingy" things in there, but they were meant to be lightly pinched into the clear, and it was close to 200 bucks for a really small can of the stuff. Not near enough to cover like I'd want it to. I think my friend ended up using like children's glitter out of a primer gun, actually came out ok! LOL. I like the Airbrushguy's MUCH MUCH better!!!

HOK F-18 orange flake. They shot a black base, the flake and some orange kandy over that. Sorry, had the flake number wrong.
