I thought I would start this for everyone here interested in
Lettering, Gold Leaf, and Pinstriping Suppliers.
Feel free to add to this list. Alot of people have a hard time
finding some of the supplies for the above items.
Some of the stores I buy from.
Airbrushing paints, pinstriping brushes, gold leaf, lettering brushes,
oil based one shot. "Coast Airbrush" and "Dick Blick"
Gold Leaf, and adheasive supplies "Michaels Art and Crafts"
Kafka Brushes "Dick Blick" and "Coast Airbrush"
Books on Pinstriping "Borders, Eastwood, Amazon, Dixie Art Supply, and Coast Airbrush"
Some Lettering Books are also at "Amazon" and "Dover"
Many of these suppliers have tool free numbers and web sites
Feel free to add your faverite place

Hi Fresnojohns
Here's what I'm looking 2 do. By the way I'm a NEWIE with using Gold Leaf.
I want to use either: Gold Leaf or Liquid or Pen Gold Leaf on a PLASTIC engine cover. That would lay atop of the head of my engine. Of course they'll be HEAT. The cover is PLASTIC with a design of the Mustang Horse.
Questions Please:
1- What will give me the BRIGHTEST GOLD on the plastic cover ? (Liquid Gold, Felt Pen Gold or Rub-on Gold Leaf ?
2- What Gold Leaf would you suggest ( Pen/Liquid or Rub On ) I use to accomplish this ?
3- Will the Gold Leaf hold-up to the HEAT from the engine ?
Thank You
GOD BLESS

Re: Pinstriping and Gold Leaf Suppliers
Schooner,
If you are to use the real Gold Leaf, such as 24 Karat Gold,
it would last longer than the imitation Gold Leaf I have listed.
Real Leaf is much brighter than the others. When it is dried you can
spin it or burnish it and get very nice effects.
Since you are new to doing any kind of Gold Leaf, I would suggest
doing much practice using the cheaper leaf. Once you leaf something its very hard to take it off.
Since you are doing plastic on an engine cover I would try some other
Gold until you are comfortable using leaf.
There is water based Auto Air that has some nice bright gold and you can
spray clear on them as well.
Hope this helps,
Fresnojohns
