Re: pin stripe
Hey Redneck ... hello !!
I'm not sure but when I was into oil painting I had a Brush made by PLAID that was about an eighth of an inch in diameter and the bristles were about an inch and a quarter long and very soft. That brush did real well when painting long and narrow lines. It held a lot of paint for its small size. I would hold it real flat to the surface and just drag with the slightest preasure I could manage.
Hope this helps.

Re: pin stripe
Hey Redneck ... That brush I referred to earlier may have been slightly smaller than an eigth. But as you said, you could probably take a razor blade and lightly go around the brush at the furrell to thin it down some.

Re: pin stripe
My advice, get yourself a Mack series 10 in size 000 and an Kafka #3 along with a can of 1 shot and dont look back. Pinstriping is hard enough using the standard tools. I'd hate to see you get discouraged using makeshift stuff. 1 shot may be available at a local sign shop and pretty cheap. Ebay and many other places sell the brushes. Your local auto paint store probably stocks the series 20 Macks which are plenty good for learning the basics. I have a whole box full of brushes but the ones I mentioned above are the ones I use most. Go ahead, take the plunge. AL

Re: pin stripe
Redneck how ya been?
I bought some HOK type stuff at Wally's took it back.
I don't know what kind of stuff it is since its for models but it didn't work.
I tried mineral spirits, alcohaul, even HOK thinners and it didn't work.
I ruined one of my strping brushes too. I cracked one bottle and threw it away.
Took other colors back.
As Al said, One Shot is not real pricey, and buy some Mack Striping brushes,
either green or blue wrap. You can also use a Mack series 70 for waterbase paints and they are great to practice with also. You can even use createx
black with the series 70 and practice that way too. Very budjet way of doing it. When its over 100 degrees in Az I use A series 70 and createx and practice on paper. No oder, easy cleanup. Please clean any brush. I will post
some stuff I did with a water based brush .
