Masonite Panel
This panel is masonite. You can draw, airbrush, and even oil paint on
this. You get them at most art supply stores for around $3.99 each. Before
you pinstripe on these put some clear on first as the finish is very porus.
All in one shot enamel. 11 by 14 inches Also did some sponge work.

Re: Masonite Panel
Wow, that is awesome, man I wouldn't know where to begin, what kind of brush and incredible steadness and control. Several people have ask me if I pinstripe, no one around her does it, guess I should try it. Again incredible work.

Re: Masonite Panel
Luc and Bill,
Thank you for the nice compliments. The main brush I use
for pinstriping designs is a (Mack # 0) and a (Mack #1).
These brushes have the Green Thread wrap on the handle.
These brushes are available at most auto body supply stores no problem.
These are called series 20. They are a cheaper line of brush but many people use these. When I started in the 70's this was the only one at that time
you could get from Mack. There is a series 10 that is higher, but you won't notice that much difference using it. The series 20 has alittle more stiffer
hair I guess. For long lines I use a Scharff #1. Different maker and they have a very long handle almost like a pencil. For long lines, they don't do corners well. Get some One Shot Light Blue and start prcticing. Its much like airbrushing. Anyone of you can get into pinstriping. It is practice. There are
many books available. Some good, some a waste of money. If you guys and anyone else want to know about books drop me a line.
Also in issue 19, 20 and this issue 21 I have some articles on doing this.
Much is covered but I didn't have the time for a issue after issue.
Please feel free to email me or ask questions here on the board. If you like
I will start posting here some simple designs to work from. Pinstriping and
Airbrushing go hand in hand together.
I will help all of you anyway I can.
Thanks again,
Fresnojohns

Re: Masonite Panel
Thank you Kwit, Hondo, Dave, Rowie, and Oz for the nice compliments!!
If you guys have access to issues 19, 20 and 21, I have some information
in those issues as how to get started.
My method of Pinstriping is to use One Shot Lettering Enamel. It can be purchased at any sign and art supply place, some automotive paint stores,
and online at Dick Blick. The same with the brushes too. I use mostly a 0 size and a 1. And I use the regular Mack series 20. A green thread wrap No need to get more pricey brushes these will work fine.
Get some oderless mineral spirits paint thinner to clean your brushes and to thin the paint.
Get a bottle of mineral oil or Neatsfoot Oil so after you clean the brushes you can coat the hairs with this .
Store brushes in a dust free place on a glass of metal or in plastic tool box.
Not on anything paper. It will pull all oil out of brush.
Later on or tomorrow I am posting some practice strokes the Rowie posted
a few months back. This is on paper and gives you a direction of what to start on. I will also be back showing some brush strokes that may vary on these but using in a design. A very simple design so you don't get board.
Thanks again,
Fresnojohns

Re: Masonite Panel
Here is the information Rowie posted a few months back as to the
stroke directions to practice.
Thank you Rowie so much for the help!!!!!!!! I will be back in a day or so
to post a simple design. You can copy it or do anything with it you like.
