Default Handlettered sign

I can't think of anywhere else to post this but since pinstriping is done with a brush it seems to fit here..I've been cleaning my workroom this morning & I'm trying to dispose of anything not needed any longer..Pokemon has been a dead issue for some time now so this board needs coated out for another sign..it's already done-gone, gone, gone!! I think handlettering lends itself so well to the addition of airbrushing & this is an example of both coupled together..it was just a quick sign only worth coating out when the fad faded away..

Thumbs up Re: Handlettered sign

Darla,

That looks good. Doing hand lettering is a skill all its own. Doing
work like in your photo has a personality to it. I have never been a fan of the
new vinyl since it came out. I honestly think hand lettering is on the
rebound and returning. People still do the window art advertising, and showcard work by hand.Using a computer is ok, but it will never have the look
feel or class of a hand lettered project.
Darla, even though you did a quick layout sign like above, it still has
more feeling than the newer way. Can't wait to see what you put over that.

Darla, that lettering rocks! I just ordered myself a set of gray quills and want to practice my letters, The gray's I think are the stiffer. Next time Ill get some browns. What is your favorite lettering brushes? Cant remember for sure the names of the ones I ordered but they were made in Germany. Again, really nice! AL

Thanks Ultra Al--sometimes I don't realize how much I miss handlettering & now about the most I do with it is just cheap posters for my business..I much prefer gray squirrel quills myself & I used to order from Dick Blick a brand called Imperial quill--I'll try to find a name on one of the handles for more info (if it hasn't worn clear off)---it's strange that you forget piddly facts like these when you become so accustomed to what you work with..but you do!! I need a new set myself & I know I have a few nice sites bookmarked for when I got ready to order as when I call Dick Blick anymore & just get hold of young salesmen who should be doing anything else besides selling art supplies..They can't answer any questions at all & rarely know what I'm even talking about..you will want the longest hair possible without it falling into a striper catagory..I'll follow up on this & let you know what I plan to order because with handlettering the proper brush does all the work & the sign artist gets to take credit for it..
This company has a good looking gray quill that looks very similar to the ones I like to use--http://www.mackbrush.com --OK--now I find that I need some tutoring in how to attatch a link (that works) to another location..if you can get there these are attractive brushes!!
