Default Just saying hello

Hello,

My name is Jason and I'm just getting started in this whole mess. lol I'm not quite sure how I got here but I started out as a car guy doing composite (carbon fiber/fiber glass) work for my own personal vehicles. Then as people saw my work they wanted it done for them. I've kept it as just a hobby though because I don't ever want it to become work. Then recently a guy came to me and asked me to make him a Carbon fiber piece, no problem, but he wanted paint over it that looked like it was tearing away to reveal the carbon fiber. I didn't promise anything but said since I have a two month waiting list for carbon fiber products anyway I thought I'd do a bunch of research and give it a try. I've never considered myself artistic but I don't think this is entirely out of the realm of possibility.

So I guess I'm going from the composite hobby to the airbrush hobby soon. yikes! I got a couple months to get a brush that will suit me and practice practice practice to do these tears.

That brought me here, this looks like a great place with a ton of info to sift through to help me get on the right track. I look forward to learning from you all and starting up a new branch of my love for creating things.

Thanks for reading and wish me luck.

Hi Jason. welcome to the forum! I agree with Diaz and Don. This place is the right place for you to learn. When I first started airbrushing, there wasn't "internet" LOL! I gathered up every bit of airbrush liturature that I could get my grubby lil' hands on and then I practiced but I found that the books....well they couldn't answer any questions that I had, so I had to drive to find people that could help. Getting started here is probably the best thing you could have done as far as the airbrushing is concerned. I'm sure it won't be long before your posting all your work here. The memebers of this forum all are very kind and motivating people....not to mention talented. Your already on the right track. Good luck

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. I am definitely serious about doing this and will have no problems putting in the hard work and practice to do it right. I always enjoy a challenge.

I've been looking through a lot of pictures and things and I was surprised to see some carbon fiber air brushings. I'd never seen that before and holy cow did it look realistic. Then I stumbled across some of the more intricate works people have done here and WOW! I can definitely see I'm in the right place to learn.
