Donks are home....yep pink rules!!! again

They were finally deliver'd Thursday....in between painting today I played Donkey trainer....the lil one had never been handled before..that was a fun ordeal...ya think it might be the PINK halter he didn't want on him!?
Nah he took to it pretty good....Enjoy!

This was a very nice gift from a customer of ours & she is expecting another colt....

Bill & I set up a small shoot in the fence so they can come right up to the shop door where I usually sit when taking breaks..it will really surprise you how calming they are when you watch just how easy they take life in stride........
The jennet [Flirt T] is a big pet but we dont know much on their background .....I drove her a bit with long lines & she didnt know how..I lay across her back & she want'd to lay down so I don't think she has done anything but be a pet.I would have tried to ride her but a Grandson [Nubbin] has ask'd to be the first to be on her back.
We keep outdated & stale chips here for the chickens as a treat, when I got a bag of Bacon Chedder out she had a fit for them & loves them....

Yeah its like horses, you can train them to do alot

I might buy a donkey and replace him with my security dog and when some bad ass criminals make a housebreaking I shout: PLEASE STOP OR I RELEASE THE DONKEY lol j/k

A female friend of mine have two horses and one donkey, beautiful animals with alot of own will

may I make a suggestion ? buy a dondey and 2 monkeys, train the monkeys to ride the donkey and when some one break-in donkey can attack the feet, monkey can attack the face and head

Update: Flirt T & Willie Buck are doing very well since they got here.
Flirt T is just that a big flirt.....she is crazy about Bill [hubby] everytime she see him she brays out at him....I am slowly getting the feed to the amount where they have it in front of them all the time [known as creep feeding] Flirt T needs much more weight put on her, but its hard to do right now as she has Willie Buck by her side & one on the way..... so she is eating for 3 right now...I will soon be weaning Willie Buck.

I LOVE Donkeys!

I used to have a couple many, many years ago. We had an open door policy for them, they would roam through the house like big puppies, it was awesome.

Ill post a pic tomorrow how I have them set up to come to the shop door so I can spend alot of time with them...as you well know they make as good of pets as the pups do ....and want to be around us as much as they can.

Made me realize how much I missed them, though the miniature versions we have at the moment are just as attached, have the same sepperation anxiety and for the most, just as obedient!

But they bark, are overwhelmed with excitement when they see you (even if you only left the room 5 minutes earlier) and spend hours sitting on your lap, I wouldn't change them for all the money in the world.

awww Yardnut, how sweet, we are surrounded by donkeys out here, once in a while they will break out, and for some reason, they realy like my yard LOL I don't mind though, they know me enough to let me walk up to them now, and they know I always have a treat for them. Can't say my horse appreciates them though LOL Your donkeys are beautifull Yard.

Lee I think Willie just dont want to admit he loves pink also.

We almost had a bad thing yesterday ....Krissy loves them & naturaly Donks will kills dogs.
Willie plays with Krissy & Flirt has tolerated Krissy. yesterday Flirt went baserk & stomp't Kris bad...rolled her underneath like a tied up clown on a bull.........Kriss got out of it & couldnt understand what or why it happen'd..........she watches well now [Ive tried to warn her] Kriss is fine she was a bit sore today.I plan Saturday to make Flirt dog tolerant in a hurry.....

I understand how you feel about the dog & donkey but if there is a change of yotes or strange dogs attacking your pets then I would not break the donkey of taking up for her self

This is a TOTAL animal interaction home ALL must get along with each other....BIG RULE here....
We dont have wild dogs here red............being an animal trainer I fully understand nature & how it works, but here if ya dont get along they are train'd to trust not thrown away. Proof in Sally [clearly a RED ZONE dog] one of the worst I had seen in years. Sally is free to roam & even plays now...something I had to sadly teach her to do...we even have a dog that lives in the coop with the hens...yep thats where he is happy most so that where he lives. Im not a sancuary for animals, but each one we have here we got from special circumstances & yep Lee has post'd what has been said about us many times..inre others saying they wouldnt mind being adopt'd by us. We dont take every one we would like to in, but we do take in the hopeless cases, and what great family members they make.
So the chances of a wild dog for the Donk to take care of is a way less % than the 6 that live here being attact'd for no reason ....that habit will be remove'd from her.
