9/11
Please take a moment of your time today to remember and pray for everyone who lost their lives or a family member on this date 7 years ago. I would also ask that if you have a Flag please display it proudly at your Home or work in their honor.
Sincerely,
Paul

Re: 9/11
Prayers are with every one in remberence of this day.
Where were you when you heard?
I was on my way out the house door to drive my dad on [his birthday] to Alabama to lay his sister to rest.

Re: 9/11
I'm with you on this Paul. Thank you.
Yard, I was in my truck listening to the radio while at the end of our driveway waiting for my youngest sons school bus to pick him up. Pretty foggy out that morning and the bus was running late. I did not want to believe what I was hearing on the radio.

Re: 9/11
i will always remember 9/11 i knew people that worked there. I just got home from work and was taking a shower..when my girlfriend yelled when she saw the news of the first plane hitting i ran out the shower to catch the live broadcast when the second one hit... i literally jumped into some clothes and grabbed my 35mm camera and 4 rolls film and ran 4 blocks to a park that has the entire view of NY skyline from the Gw Bridge down to the Towers.. i remember just taking pictures and not believing what i was seeing. as the towers collapsed...till this day i still have 3 rolls undeveloped...it hurts too much i don't think i want to see it again. This is the shirt that i'm wearing at work today...

Re: 9/11
I spent the first 5 hours of my day driving to Canada for business with another employee. We talked the entire way to the border and when we got there we couldn't understand why there were soooooo many police around. And they were opening up every truck searching for somehting. When they told us what happened it was a huge shock. We got into Canada but, getting home was a different story.
We can never forget what happened. My sincere sympathy goes out to all who were caused to suffer.
Bill

Re: 9/11
I was sitting in my frontroom with a friend. The news came on , and as we heard, and saw , what was unfolding before our eyes, we cried together..... Never Forget.

Re: 9/11
This was one unforgettable day.
It was such an unfortunate event yet it became an event that made everybody in this country become one.
Didn't matter what race you were, didnt matter what faith you followed, man, woman and child, we all had the same thing in common....we were all witnessing a miracle, even if it were for just a short time, the fact that we all became one despite all our cultural differences, rich or poor.
The event itself brought on so many emotions, sadness, anger, disbelief and to this very day still brings on the very emotions that you felt that day.
I pray today for all the families directly involved that had lost loved ones and also I keep the people of New York, Pennsylvania and Washington deep in my heart for what they had to witness that day and how brave they all had to be, then and now.
You will always be in my prayers...it's all I can do.

Re: 9/11
It was around 3 pm local time in Germany when I heard.......things were winding down for the day. We were in the motorpool, wrapping things up. I remember, I was headed out to the gate to smoke a cigarette (can't smoke in the motorpool proper). I remember one of my soldiers, PFC Widener, was on his cell phone talking to his insurance agent back in the states. He came running into the shop, saying something about a plane crashing into the towers.
We didn't have a clue what was going on. A plane? We all thought maybe a small prop plane, like a cesna or something. That's when the insurance agent began screaming on the cell.....we all could hear it.......that another plane crashed into the towers....A big plane......a commercial jet liner. I remember thinking to myself.....this is bad. Passenger jets just don't fly into buildings unless someone meant them to. We are under some sort of attack.
Don't know if he hung up the phone, or if we were disconnected. I remember looking at my soldiers faces. That look will stay with me for the rest of my life. We still really didn't know what was going on.....we started calling up the chain of command.....no one knew anything (this is within seconds of it actually happening). I remember saying to everyone, "be ready, this is going to be a long day".
By 5pm local time, the entire base was on lock-down alert. 100% accountability / manning......bags packed......battle gear....protective masks and MOPP suits, MOPP level 2 (gas masks and suits). Weapons issue. Roving and fixed patrols. Apache helicopters with 30mm cannons armed in the air.....UH-60 Blackhawks with M-60 door gunners in the air. Long night.......
......Longer night for the men and women who rushed into the fight at ground zero, and lost that battle. God bless their souls, and make the bastards who did this pay.
