You have to carry a pair of drugstore reading glasses with you where ever you go. I am trying to keep this light hearted but I really do this. I have noticed that in the last year I can't focus on anything closer than 15 inches and small print other than black and white is a real pain. I was just wondering if this is common and if so what others have done. As airbrush painting is a lot of close up detailed work I thought there may be some experienced advise out there.

Don't feel bad. I went to Walmart a couple of years back and bought the biggest pair of reading glasses they had. Keep them down in my art room!

Vanity went out the window with me last year, I put off wearing Walmart granny glasses until I couldn't see their names anymore in the grade book. Now, I guess it doesn't matter, they don't tease me and I can see clearly. Now when I give demonstrations I don't squint. All works out.
(I buy several pair because my wife knows I will set on at least one a month)

It wasn't all that long ago that one day out of the blue I noticed I couldn't read anything on my computer screen below the largest of text.....so after a few days of this I did the same as the rest of ya....Hit up Wallyworld and got me a pair of reading glasses. they helped alot but the real fine detailed stuff still wasn't there....my airbrushing was suffering badly so for the first time in my life I went to the eye doctor to see what was up.....he just laughed and "Boy...ya done went and got old".....He proceded to expain that for most of us once we hit our 40's are eye's start changing and problems with our vision become alot more noticable, and before I walked out of his office I had a prescription for glasses....Bi-focals of all things....man I feel like a grandpa using these dang things....I hate'em with a passion....but whatcha gonna do??

I was at a pinstripers panel jam in Houston awhile back and met up with an old time striper that saw I was struggling to see thru the durn little bi-focal part of my glasses, and he showed me where he had two pairs of glasses....one regular and one is made with just the bi-focal part which is what he wears when he's pinstriping, so I guess thats the next pair i'll buy....jeez it sux gettin old....lol....but its nice to know i'm not the only one.

One other thing I learned recently....our eyes are muscles, not organs....they need to rest periodicly just like any other muscle, so when your painting all your finest details stop every so often and look at objects far off...or just close them and let them rest cause your straining them when your focused on tiny details and like any strained muscle they get fatigued and benefit from taking short breaks occasionally. Who knew??

I can't say if my signature is original ( I'm sure it isn't) but yours is like one that was popular in the 70's and I don't remember any mention of guitars. LOL The fabulous fury freak brothers live on !!!
