let the little ones scrawl.....
It is of great importance for the parents to pay attention when and how their sons and daughters start doing their first ''scrawls'',by always providing paper and encourage them to create whatever they want to draw. From the two of my sons, I analyzed as the time went by to see if there was something in their drawings that would show a hint of their abilities, the older one didn't seemed to show skills honestly.....but the little one appeared to show signs of creativity.I let one year pass and give her lots of papers to paint whatever she wanted to, and sometimes gave her assignments to draw, she showed the skills, but I wanted to be honest with her and everybody, she is now 5 years old and last week she was picked as the only winner from the whole elementary school and received a prize at an art festival for all the elementary schools. Now I see that it truly pays those times when she show me her first drawing and I gave her critique as one will do with the Big Masters ......i still want to see more.

Dom you must be so proud and pleased and I am sure that your daughter will go on to do some great things just like her Pa. If my wife had the same encouragement from her father when she was a little girl I know she would be up there with the greats now but instead he confiscated everything out of jealousy as he thought that she was becomming better than him. Booze makes people do strange things. Anyway congrats and can I please see some of your daughters work

Dom, there is nothing in the world like the light in a little ones eyes that says she knows you are proud of her and that you will encourage here and YOU did just that. She is quite a little Bonita.

Dom, your daughter is just beautifull, and her artwork a reflection of that, and a reflection of a loveing, encouraging and proud father.
I agree with your words, and have always encourged my kids to nurture thier creativity, and am proud to say, they all have an artist creativity. I believe that all people were born with that creativity, in one form or another, if you can't draw a stick figgure, you may be able to sculpt a masterpiece, if you can't sculpt, you may be able to build a mansion, if you can't build, you may be able to plan careers for future generations,,,etc,,, we are all born with creativity, its just up to us to realize what our own unique abilities are.
Congratulations go out to your beautifull daughter.

Dom, I couldn't agree with you more. And I would suggest that it not belimited to just artistic things. My oldest son would come to me with ideas for inventions and other technological activites (including a magnetic motor) when he was 12. I simply took his idea and asked him how to go about it and helped him look for roadblocks and how to overcome them.
He's now 23 and is studying for his Doctorate in Materials Engineering---all on scholarships.
So as parents we should follow your example and help our children follow their muse. Whatever the field.
PS. She's a cutie!!!!!!
You have every reason to be proud.

yeah, it applies to everything, in this case I mention her because of the airbrush forum.....but one must see what are the abilities of the children and just try to focus them on it freely with 200 % support
