the chase
Go on record now who will win the chase this year?
Be kind of cool to see Harvick win both the Bush and NASCAR its never been done before in the same year. Still gotta pull for Jr but I don't think he can do it this year.

Re: the chase
I'll make my comment after this first of 10 races.
But yeah Harvick is on a rail! His attitude and his cars are much better this year. sad to see Tony didn't make it, he just had one too many bad spots, and a few of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. But I bet he'll make it a challenge for the top 10 guys! LOL! Would be sweet to see Mark get it! Even he seems to be having more fun this year. Jr's getting better, just needs to be more consistent, but he's gettin there.
So this is going to be very interesting

Re: the chase
I would love to see Harvick win, but would it not be fun to see a rookie
take the championship.....
I am interested to see if Tony can give the same respect that he demands
when racing for the last 9 races.

Harvick's team once again gets caught skirting the rules yesterday
Jeff did great he might pull it off
some big sports reporters are picking Kasey Kane to win to given the tracks they have to run the next 9 races
we'll see

Re: the chase
They said about an hour after the race his team had lazer cut his rims to act as a bleeder valve, releasing tire air pressure as the tire temp went up, bleeder valves on tires are not allowed in NASCAR, they didn't dock him any points or take away the win but told his team not to show up with that done to their rims again. Will it hurt his results in the next 9 races we'll see.

Re: the chase
the tire thing didn't do much to harvick and burton exept make them want to prove they are as good as they appear.
After watching yesterdays race, this chase is going to be very interesting to say the least, and I think it's going to go right down to the last race in homestead.
Love stewart's comment on winning yesterday' that last lap was very quiet' LOL!!!
Hamlin's sitting in 2nd , burton's on top,,, oh yes, this is going to very interesting all the way!

Re: the chase
wow! no replies in the last 3 weekends? I guess every body is glued as much as I am to every race. Sitting here now watching/listening to trackside, qualifying rained out.
I like McReynolds view, 'this is a hot potato, who wants it?"
It seems when you think one driver is gonna be cool and slide into #1 position, he does something stupid and hurts himself! Burton did it, Jr. did it,Martin, gordon and his shadow -johnson,,, they're all doing it. *eek*
This is gonna be one chase that I think is gonna go to the wire. I can't pick!
but I'll narrow it to Burton, Martin, and Jr.

Yeah Jr. did pretty well considering hitting the wall and getting a speeding ticket. I had him counted out for a little while. The team did a good job keeping him in the hunt.

Re: the chase

1. +1 Jimmie Johnson Leader
2. -1 Matt Kenseth -17
3. +1 Dale Earnhardt Jr. -78
4. -1 Denny Hamlin -80
5. +1 Kevin Harvick -105
6. +1 Jeff Gordon -157
7. -2 Jeff Burton -184
8. +2 Kyle Busch -233
9. -1 Mark Martin -253
10. -1 Kasey Kahne -290
After the elections are now over, I had an odd thought.
What if Nascar was running the elections.
Who would get fined, Loss of a thousand votes for illegal use of a commerical?
Everyone would have to wear a uniform and display their backers logo.
My favorite, Impound Elections, No commericals after Friday before the poles open.
Man I have got to get a life....

Re: the chase
the trouble is there not over now starts the 2008 pres. elections
somewhere I'm sure someone has done a study on the lenght of time the average adult has spent over a lifetime reading, seeing commericals. Not sure thats something I want to know actually might be a bit shocking.
Jimmy Johnson for pres., Smoke (Tony) for governor we've have an actor as governor in CA. , actor as pres. in Regan how long do you think it will be before we see some NASCAR star run for office?

Re: the chase
Well it was Jimmy's to lose and he didn't. Jr. looked strong in the early going but just didn't have enough. Congrats to Jimmy. Better luck next year, Dale.

Re: the chase
JOHNSON WINS CHAMPIONSHIP...
I really do not like the new championship rules at all. If your favorite driver is not in the Chase then you are out of luck seeing them in the race unless they crash. What happened to Elliot Sadler? He was in 5th place and then he was 36th in just a couple of laps. If I was a sponsor I would let the team know that if they were not in the chase for the last 10 races that my money would stop. Why not, they do not get any coverage......

Re: the chase
Well TV rating dropped this year so maybe they will re think it
I think it had more to do with all the ads, 5 minutes of racing for every ten minutes of ads
Jr gets mad and just gives up I think.
He got mad at his crew because they screwed up tonight on that one stop and never got it back together. I think we'll see some changes there during the off season.
91 days until the 500 at Daytona

Re: the chase
Thats why they made TIVO. I always watch it on delay so I can zip out all the ads. Gordon said he was going to miss NBC. I quess they were not offering enough money to Nascar for their coverage next year. I am glad they had twice as many commericals and the coverage was not that good. Did not get to see all the restarts.
