I am curious as to where airbrushers are getting most of their paying airbrush work from. Are you getting most of your work as result of a web-site, samples hung in a shop, or just word of mouth?

I am curious because of my financial situation will be drastically changing at the end of this school year and I will most likely be losing my house. If I can supplement my income by $700 a month by the end of school year things will be fine, so I need to concentrate my efforts in the smartest directions.

Please take the time to answer my little survey.
Thanks

Well had a lovely surprize when I left to go to work this morning. Someone had tried to steal my truck last night or early this morning. When I went out to my truck to leave for work I found the drivers window smashed out, they pried under the handle with a screw driver, and also busted up the steering collar to get at the wires to hot wire it. I am thankfull they were unable to get it. It isn't a pretty truck by any means, but it is my daily transportation. It is all dented up and very rustywith 295,000 miles on it. I had to spend $45.00 on a glass from a junkyard and lost time at work going to pick up the glass and installing it. Just had to let out a little steam over it.

Hope everyone keeps a thought for our service men past and present today. This is a poem by a WWII pilot who died during the war,... but I enjoy reading it at this time of year. His joy of flying always bring me joy. I hope you'll enjoy it as well.

*High Flight
Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds - and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of - wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up the long delirious, burning blue,
I've topped the windswept heights with easy grace
Where never lark, or even eagle flew -
And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod
The high untresspassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand and touched the face of God.

Just wanted to share.

Today was a great day, beautiful outside & perfect temperature.

I organized an event that drew 30 men from our area for a few hours today. 1300 12 ga shells, 1260 clay targets, an awesome target thrower, 60 5oz ribeye steaks, lots of potato chips, pop & cookies. What a day!

Gave away 2 Case pocket knives as prizes... one for 'top shooter' and the other in a drawing. Good times were had by all. Planning another for the Spring.

Hope everyone else enjoyed theirs as much.

It is has been a while since I posted and thought I better make an appearance before Don won't let me play here any more.

I miss my time here at the forum and just today I was talking with a friend about the forum and well decided to say hello again.

My little hole in the wall at the market has held its own so far through all of this mess with the economy and I even expanded. Course that is not because of the large sums of cash I am NOT raking in, :(, it is because I am stubborn, bullheaded and have an addiction to airbrushing and the toys that go with it. ;)

I have added a lot to the shop.. I now offer airbrushing, of course, on everything and anything you can hold down or hold still, this includes t-shirts to automotive. In addition I offer screen printing, transfers, sublimation printing, pad printing, pinstriping, fine art, framing and of course customer counseling:) (which seems to just be part of the job lately)

I have, this week airbrushed mannequins, tire covers, a trailer, helmet and multiples of t shirts in addition to several orders for transfers. CRAZY MAN.. no rest for the weary. Course most people would not work at this pace for long or want to. Here I sit at 9 p.m. and have not eaten, so may just forget about that part for tonight and hit the sack.

To all of those who know me HIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII.. To those who don't glad to see you all here and hope to talk more soon.

OK,

Tech question to all you videophiles out there.

I'm looking for a good webcam that I can use to record some how to videos into my laptop, then post on my website. I use a network security cam at my office to see people coming into the building, since my office is removed from the entryway. It works as intended, but not the quality I want for my personal video stuff. My budget is $100 or less.

I'd like decent resolution, the best I can get for the money. The microphone isn't necessary because I will add the voice trax later with Adobe Premiere. (I figure that would be better than hearing the constant drone of my compressor in the background.) I have a tripod that I'll clamp the cam onto, then run a USB into my laptop & directly record.

Here's what I'm looking at:
Logitech WebCam Pro9000 (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Logitech+-+WebCam+Pro9000/8380593.p?id=1179165373906&skuId=8380593)

Anyone have any suggestions, since some of you are already doing this? What other features should I look for in a webcam for this purpose?

Thanks!

I know I have been kind of vacant from this site lately. I really wanted to say my heart goes out to all those who have been suffering with the H1N1 virus. My family and I have been sick for two weeks now and it is a miserable virus. My lungs feel like they are on fire and the coughing is relentless. the first week was the fever and coughing followed by extreme weakness. I coughed so hard last night that I may have fractured one of my ribs. So if you get this than be prepared for some major discomfort and go to the Doctor right away.

Next I am asking for your prayers for me and my family. As many know I am still on SS Disability and this is the last school year I can collect for my daughter since she will turn 18 at the end of the month. Once she graduates her payments will stop. that means we will be short $658. a month toward our house hold finances. I was hoping to build an airbrush business before then to supplement my income, but I can't seem to get any paying jobs anymore. I recently had a customer ask for 3 shirts with portraits and if the the price was right there would be more. My normal price for portraits is $65. plus the cost of the t-shirt and shipping. I gave the guy a price of $45 to hopefully spark some business, but alas he has vanished into oblivion. Also I have not heard from the paint supply store and the 2 auto custom shop that have my samples hanging up in over a year. Finances are to the point that I can't even afford to paint for practice and fun. It may all come down to going back to work doing anything and have to suffer though the daily migraines as a result.

I am not complaining I am just asking for your thoughts and prayers.

Thank you Fred

Like most of you here, I want to start doing a business from my house to start with. I've been having trouble with a couple of things, but maybe you can ALL help me. I'm sure this has been brought up before as well, but still need your input with a name and logo. I would be more than happy to hear of some the names and logos that you could think of too. I'm also aware that if I do choose one, then I would have to check around to see if that company name is being used already. I wouldn't want to steal a copy right from someone, but only looking to start my own. Below is the list that I have started right now. The list of names is what I've thought of, and I'm hoping some of them are not someones screen name too. Not sure if it is, then please excuse me if they are. Since I love to do "True Fire" I was thinking that could be some type of logo too. Sorry for the long thread. First, my name is Terry Youngheim and was thing of something like:
