Hey everyone so my Iwata HP-C plus is acting up on me. It is not shooting out paint when I pull back on the trigger until its almost fully open. Then when I shut off the air it shoots out paint. I have cleaned it many times and reduced my pressure and still the same. Any suggestions?

Paint for Helmets

Hi All, I am a manufacture of helmets for watersports.
we recently had some damage to alot of new product on the paint on the shells.
we manufacture off shore so sending them back to our paint house is not an option.
The blemishes in the paint are small and look like they just need touch up. So i thought airbrushing to touch up the areas would be really the best way to go.

I purchased and Iwata Eclipse siphon feed gun this morning and practices a bit to get the hang of using an airbrush ( I am experience with typical larger volume HVLP guns etc).

The Iwata came with some com art paint, not the paint. The paint is very thin and runs on vertical surfaces of the helmet.

I have several questions and requirements

1) can i run normal automotive paints through this gun?
2) suggestion on paints manufacture and also matching the paint to our helmets colors would be very helpful.
3) i need to the paint to flash pretty quickly as this "touching" up will be much like a assembly line....

Thanks in advance.

Hi All

I decided to by some GAC to add to my Golden Airbrush paint to try my hand at the odd T-shirt. All fine and dandy mixing 1:1 as directed. The issue I found was with the white, same mix but sprays virtually transparent? wanted to use it for the odd highlight but couldn't it was too transparent. All the other colours were fine, any ideas or something else I could do to get around it.

Cheers

Advice sought on SG100

Let me start by saying that I paint a lot on ABS plastic and have been doing so for years. I like it using it because it is stiff and when coated with white primer is a nice surface to work on- similar to illustration board.

I mostly use PPG lacquers and water based acrylic paints and Lacquer clear coats on the stuff I paint whether it is a prototype model or a piece of artwork. I have used HOK urethane's a little here and there but just cleared with a lacquer clear as a urethane clear would be overkill.

So my problem is a ABS panel I painted with HOK urethanes bent after I cleared it with SG100. I have never had this happen before clearing with a lacquer clear coat. The SG100 wasn't sprayed on heavy just enough to coat my artwork. I think as it dried it shrunk because the panel was flat when I cleared it and when I came back to the paint booth a few hrs later my panel had curled. Can anyone with experience using SG100 give me any insight to this problem?

hi i recently just got into airbrushing,i have a dual action airbrush,a oiless airbrush compressor that pushes out 30 psi max,i have two 6 ft ropes connected together,my problem is i was using acrylic walmart paint but it kept clogging my brush and would only work if i watered it down, but then it would be to watery and it would mess up the paper,so i went and got createx and was told its made so you dont have to water it down,i tried with that and it also clogged my brush,i cleaned my brush out thoughrly and tried again but once again it clogged,i would highly appreciate some tips

Help with dog portrait...

I'm attempting to paint a portrait of my brother-in-law's recently deceased chocolate lab. First problem is that he only has a lousy photo and secondly, I'm not sure how to airbrush such a short haired dog. I've painted a portrait of a long haired dog and that was so much easier. I experimented with some scratching techniques, but it just doesn't look right. Maybe I'm going about it the wrong way. Other than scratching the fur in, I can't think of any other way to realistically represent short haired fur. Also, I'm having trouble matching the brown colors. There seem to be so many different shades of brown here. Any help and guidance would be appreciated. Here is the photo given to me:

Here I zoomed in on the portion of the photo I plan on using:
