im not exactly new, i been reading your forums for about a year but only recently decided to start abing again. the main reason i wanted to restart was the fact my children want painted helmets for ball and i cant see paying 60 each for something i can do for about 5. my favorite things are graffiti on shirts and skulls ( i try to put skulls on everything ) i am practicing to be able to paint helmets but right now im content with textiles.

Hi my name is Rob and I am new and to this forum stuff but I love what I see here and how people help each other in there artistic journey.
Okay I am mostly working towards helmets, autos and bikes but now someone saw my website and emailed they liked a painting I did on metal called candle light. Now, she wants that painted on a medium womens shirt do I have to worry about that shrinking and push her towards a large or no. And how do I get that nice smooth look like on metal? By washing it first? And is it okay to use auto air and wicked(ceatex)? I would really appreceate anyone who can help me to get on track with this.
...I would also like to say hi to everyone out there and look forward to seeing different art and hearing different ideas.
thankyou Rob

Making $ for the New Airbrush Artist?

I was wondering if anyone can contact me at darthcratine@gmail.com and help me out.

I am new to airbrushing as in 3-4 months and not great at it and am in a financial burden. I am medically retired from the US Navy and Unemployable and am using airbrushing to suplement my income and need some advice.

I am the only artist where I am but lack the skills.

Here is what I am trying to achieve.

#1. Some simple ideas to make money with easy art even I can do.
#2. Some ideas for marketing said art on a limited budget.
#3. I need someone who has been where I am and willing to help me out.

Please help and get back with me.

Creatine (Jon)

PS: More info about me in intoduce yourself thread PLEASE read.

I am curious as to where airbrushers are getting most of their paying airbrush work from. Are you getting most of your work as result of a web-site, samples hung in a shop, or just word of mouth?

I am curious because of my financial situation will be drastically changing at the end of this school year and I will most likely be losing my house. If I can supplement my income by $700 a month by the end of school year things will be fine, so I need to concentrate my efforts in the smartest directions.

Please take the time to answer my little survey.
Thanks

Hey everyone so my Iwata HP-C plus is acting up on me. It is not shooting out paint when I pull back on the trigger until its almost fully open. Then when I shut off the air it shoots out paint. I have cleaned it many times and reduced my pressure and still the same. Any suggestions?

Well had a lovely surprize when I left to go to work this morning. Someone had tried to steal my truck last night or early this morning. When I went out to my truck to leave for work I found the drivers window smashed out, they pried under the handle with a screw driver, and also busted up the steering collar to get at the wires to hot wire it. I am thankfull they were unable to get it. It isn't a pretty truck by any means, but it is my daily transportation. It is all dented up and very rustywith 295,000 miles on it. I had to spend $45.00 on a glass from a junkyard and lost time at work going to pick up the glass and installing it. Just had to let out a little steam over it.

A guy is driving around the back woods of Montana and he sees a sign in front of a broken down shanty-style house: 'Talking Dog For Sale ' He rings the bell and the owner appears and tells him the dog is in the backyard.

The guy goes into the backyard and sees a nice looking Labrador retriever sitting there.

'You talk?' he asks.

Yep,' the Lab replies.

After the guy recovers from the shock of hearing a dog talk, he says 'So, what's your story?'

The Lab looks up and says, 'Well, I discovered that I could talk when I was pretty young. I wanted to help the government, so I told the CIA. In no time at all they had me jetting from country to country, sitting in rooms with spies and world leaders, because no one figured a dog would be eavesdropping.'

'I was one of their most valuable spies for eight years running. But the jetting around really tired me out, and I knew I wasn't getting any younger so I decided to settle down. I signed up for a job at the airport to do some undercover security, wandering near suspicious characters and listening in.. I uncovered some incredible dealings and was awarded a batch of medals.' 'I got married, had a mess of puppies, and now I'm just retired.'

The guy is amazed. He goes back in and asks the owner what he wants for the dog.

'Ten dollars,' the guy says.

'Ten dollars? This dog is amazing! Why on earth are you selling him so cheap?'

'Because he's a damn liar. He never did any of that shit.

Hi, this is my first post.

I'm pretty new to airbrushing but understand the basics. I'm using a Iwata Custom Micron-SB. I have the Pre-set handle set to give me a consistent line but whenever i try i do any kind of fine to medium line my brush stops spraying after a matter of just seconds. This is getting so frustrating i'm ready to throw it across the room. I really do not think this is down to Dry Tip as i have my cap removed and regularly clean the tip between sprays with finger tips.

I'm using Golden Airbrush paints

Any help would be really appreciated.

Paint for Helmets

Hi All, I am a manufacture of helmets for watersports.
we recently had some damage to alot of new product on the paint on the shells.
we manufacture off shore so sending them back to our paint house is not an option.
The blemishes in the paint are small and look like they just need touch up. So i thought airbrushing to touch up the areas would be really the best way to go.

I purchased and Iwata Eclipse siphon feed gun this morning and practices a bit to get the hang of using an airbrush ( I am experience with typical larger volume HVLP guns etc).

The Iwata came with some com art paint, not the paint. The paint is very thin and runs on vertical surfaces of the helmet.

I have several questions and requirements

1) can i run normal automotive paints through this gun?
2) suggestion on paints manufacture and also matching the paint to our helmets colors would be very helpful.
3) i need to the paint to flash pretty quickly as this "touching" up will be much like a assembly line....

Thanks in advance.
