A good example of pin-striping, I were going to ask if you did the back window but reread the post for the second time. I hope that you do some more pin-striping soon

i wiped it off about 30 mins ago
lol

when i wased it before, soem of the edges chiipped off the stripes. and i found out why !

story is:
few dfays ago i marked the grids / lines out then covered it in clingfilm until i had approval
int he man time my brother took it to get the little silver bead fitted in the window seal , and they used soem kind of soap to easer the instalation.

he didnt tell me this ofcourse ( no i didnt notice it had gained a silver bead either ! lol )

and where the sop had dripped down the striping was flaking off on the edges

so if cleaned it all off and im going to start over again tonight, this time with a slightly heavier Mack 00 as aposed to my prefered Xcalibur 0000 - its just a little too fine for this one.

more pics of attemptt # 2 tonight !

I think you're the only one with the talent to post pinstriping Rick..you know very well that it puts you in a league of your own.. I was only involved in one very large job that required pinstriping many years ago, & while I thought I would love it--it just didn't turn out so..I've always handlettered with a quill (not so much anymore) & that takes the same skills..I just was never around a good market for pinstriping--do you get many paying jobs with it?? Now that my eyesight is turning for the worse it's difficult for me to see when the tip of the brush hits the surface..when I was a young girl I remember well all of the old signmen complaining all the time over the same problem but I never thought it would happen to me!! This aging is not for sissies & it hurts to loose some of the skills you once had & took so much for granted.. Please continue to post your pinstriping because its beautiful work..

Darla, those are very kind words indeed.
i know what its like to have a sense degrading.
im only 18 but my eye sight turned for the worse possibly because of allt he strain i put them under doign fine work ? and it really got me down that i had to depend on glasses

just had a right ol' argument with my brother about these stripes !
there was a tricker underneat h ther stripes, which was blurtred out on the pic, and has since been removed along with the artwork.

so i said i would put my business name / Siginature underneath ' R B Customs'
and i wrote it in classic joined up scrolled writing ready for the stripes to be put around, btu he decided HE didnt liek the way i wrote my own siginature and had the cheek to re draw it for me. and then said to me. dont put it on... leave a space at the bottom and i will get 'rbcustoms' cut in a vinyl sticker.

at that point i could have killed him.
He doesnt knwo how much of a dying art pinstriping is and how much of an insult it would be to sign it with a sticker. so ive pretty much told him where to go, until i cool down a bit

I'M SO SHOCKED!!--take it off & leave it off & don't cool down so soon--He owes you such an apology!!!--Brothers can be such jerks..(I've raised 3 sons & I've seen this in action)..I really keep forgetting you're such a young man, your work shows more maturity..You've got such a handle on your tru flames & you must know & do not forget that you show great talent for pinstriping & you don't need to be treated badly--DO NOT change your signature unless you play with it more & make this decision yourself..(I've changed mine a couple of times)--
When I was a girl of 12 or so my family ended up in Pecos,Texas which was the home of Billy Sol Estes..(old history very shady wealthy oilman)..He had financed a camera store for a friend & wanted gold leaf window lettering on 2 large windows on both sides of the entrance--My father felt very suspicious of the job (it was a lot of money at the time $2000) & he made double sure & had 2 men swear twice there would be NO holdup of the money..when the job was completed & I was cleaning up all of our supplies I overheard my father in a dispute with the manager--appearantly Billy was out of town & the payment would have to go thru channels..Very loudly my father instructed me to get a razor blade--& I was about to get sick because this was an oustanding beautiful job..The manager caught my attention & said "little girl does he mean to do it" & I nodded my head yes..I kindof knew to work slowly & I judged myself where to start scraping--I used my head & started with Billy's name--by the time it was off, a car pulled up & my father got his money..we packed up & left but 2 years later while passing thru we noticed that he never did get the one name put back on..
I don't think your brother understands that you've passed the stage that he can be nit-picky & over critical--scrape it off & tell him to do it himself..If you fall in love with him again you can always do it over--

You are off to a very good start. I wish I had started when I was eighteen. As far as how to deal with those kind of situations, and I'm not in any way reccommending this in today's letigeous (money hungry lawyers) society, but there is a book out about Kenneth Howard, AKA Von Dutch. Its one you need to read, Von Dutch lived right on the edge, lets just say he wasn't receptive to constructive critisim, I dont want to spoil the book for you so we will leave it at that. I think you might be able to pick up a copy at pinstriper.com. Keep on stripin! AL

I agree with Darla on the name biz. It's your work, you should be able to use your sig how ever you want. I have changed mine only cuz my last name changed and now, changing again only cuz I want to include my husband (he clearcoats my work) .
You have beautiful lines. I'm also in a hotrod site, lots of ''pinheads'' in there. And all stripes are tops to me!
Tell bro to go chill, you keep going, if it sits still long enough, stripe it!
