Growing up near Detroit, and with my Mom being a Canadian citizen, I have the blood of a rink rat, lol.
I love this game and although I wish the USA would beat Canada, I do not see it happening. I don't think we have the goaltenders, but I am more than willing for Chelios & team to prove me wrong

I have to admit, I am kinda torn between love of country and love of game.
I think it is a great honor to Yzerman that Canada retired his jersey number for the Olympics. Is that for good? Or just this Olympics?
I feel kinda bad for Sakic since that is his number as well, but he is one class act as well, changing it around to 91.

In my house and amongst my friends, Hockey is life. Can't get enough, play ice hockey and floor hockey at least a couple times a week. Not to mention watching all the games on T.V.. My wife likes it too she'll watch one game a week, and lets me play pretty much when ever I want. She is a great wife! And as for the Olympics, obviously I'm rooting for Canada.

Hi Kimmo,
I have watched Johan for a couple of years now. Both here (Detroit) and in Grand Rapids which is where our younger kids play before making it to the big leagues.
Johan is fitting in nicely in the NHL. I watched him at a couple of practices lately and he is such a hard worker!!! Our captain, Steve Yzerman, has nicknamed him " The Mule" because he works so hard. He is doing your village proud!!
I will be meeting him in March at an annual fundraiser that the Wings throw every year. If you have anything you'd like me to say to him, let me know and I will.
I'm excited to see Sweden play as well. It's going to be a tough Olympics this year for sure, but it will be good for hockey fans
Take care,
Kathi

Hi Kathi
I guess he will be quite suppriced if you said hello from kimmo in Landsbro to him from me,, you really would make him wonder how you know who i am You can also ask him if he is planing to come back home and play for Boro/vhc in a near future. they need some help in the playoffs,,

A couple of friends was visiting him couple a weeks ago,,
if i had the money i would do that too,,
WE are very proud of him,,this really inspires the young hockeyplayers in our club,

Hi Kimmo,
I will definetly pass along the well wishes and the "Hi" for you. I'm sure he will be suprised, lol.
If you ever do make it to Detroit, please let me know and I will take you for a tour all around the sights of Detroit. There are some great places to see. It's not all bad, yes there are some scary areas at night, but I have traveled to places around there that no white woman should have ventured, but I have never had a problem with anyone in the city. Then again, Johan probably lives outside the city in Novi or somwhere like that.

Looks like the gold medal game ( womens hockey) will be between the USA & Canada. Been kinda boring watching them rollover all the other teams & win with double digit scores.
Go USA!!!

Looks like the USA better get their rears in gear. Maybe we'll see Canada vs. Sweden for the gold game?

Hey Mayhem,
I know what you mean about this internet thing. I met a young lady named Gabi who is a huge Detroit Red Wings fan & she lives in Switzerland!!! I asked her how she came to be a Detroit fan, and I guess back in the 90's she saw Steve Yzerman play at an international tourney, and she was impressed with his style of play. Well, she ended up coming to Detroit for a week in March in 2003. We met and I took her to this charity event that they hold every year. She was crushed when she found out that Yzerman wasn't going to be there because one of his kids had the flu and passed it along to him.
I was sad for her as well. A group of us decided we would hunt down the PR people and explain that she had traveled all the way from Switzerland in the hopes of meeting Steve. 2 days later, she went to a practice and he was so nice to her. He gave her a stick, a couple of pucks and took quite a few pics with her. Needless to say, she was on cloud 9 for quite awhile and so were we to be able to help our friend. The internet is an awesome thing Thanks Mr. Gates, lol

Hey Kimmo,
How is Lidstrom playing? I haven't been able to find much about his olympic
stats. He is one of my favorite players. It amazes me how he can play 35-40 minutes every night and still be sharp for the next game.
Bummer about the game against Russia. I'd still like to see Sweden come back with a medal.

Hey Kimmo,
Congrats to the womens team. The USA didn't look to jazzed to be there.
I am bummed for a couple of the ladies on team USA since I have met some of them over the years, but not much they can do about it now. I would love to Sweden beat Canada although I really don't think it will happen. It is nice to see a final with someone other than the USA vs. Canada. Shows more women are getting involved and it will be ebtter for the sport in the long run.
As for the men, I wish I could share your enthusiasm about Peter, but I don't think too much of him. He played on the Avalanch here in the states and the Ave's vs. Detroit were one of the biggest rivalries in theNHL.
I do wish Lidstrom, Holmstrom and Zetterberg well though.
Kathi

Hi Kimmo,
Well last night I met Johan Franzen and he was shocked that I knew a bit about where he was from and the name of the pro hockey team. He asked me how I knew about it and I told him that Kimmo said Hello and he just smiled. I also mentioned that most of the children from your village look up to him and he was very humble. He was a delight to talk to, and before the guys took off to fly to Vancouver, he introduced me to Nik Kronwall, Henrik Zetterberg, and Tomas Holmstrom. I ended up talking to them for about 10 minutes about the Olympics and the celebration in Sweden.
Johan asked me to tell you he said Hello and he is looking forward to coming home later in the summer.
Just thought I'd share this with you.
