Createx
I have been using watered down acrylic paint from the pait section like wal mart or micheal, it's worked well, I thought I would be brave and play with the createx I bought when I got my brush, I noticed last night that it over sprays really badly compared to other paint I was using is this normal?
Also my Iwata came with a top that fits the createx botte, so I am assuming that I am to use that and connect the bottle directly to the gun? it worked last night, but I didn't know if that was correct. I am having hard time finding bottles and lids in this area. I will looking to order them off the net.

Re: Createx
Aprille, I haven't used Createx in a great long time, but overspray in general is very normal--(whether one paint causes more than another- I don't know ) You can either learn to live with overspray & use it to your advantage, or you can become adept in masking & illiminate it altogether..Use whatever works best for you..especially while you're learning..if the bottle top fits= lucky girl!! I would need to know what you are trying to accomplish with the airbrush--(what do you want to paint) & then I could advise you on bottles & such..

Re: Createx
I don't even know what I want to paint. I have just started with the lessons on the site here, I have done 1-3, the tropical seen came out ok, the shading the circle was better, I just get heavy handed on the side that is darkest.
My main problem at this moment is keeping the paint flow steady, I swear I am not moving my finger

Re: Createx
Aprille, I'm sure you'll figure out what avenue you would like to take with the airbrush--you ask excellent questions & that will get you further, faster..I'm sure you've probably learned a lot so far.. You want to move the trigger quite a bit--that's the beauty of a double action airbrush. You can gain so much control with it, & make it do just about anything you want it to...it's a lot like working a clutch in a car, & although it takes a delicate touch it soon becomes second nature--that's what the dots are for--have you got some dots for me to see?? Make lots of dots in a creative pattern, & all the time working with your AIR ON--you turn the paint supply OFF with the trigger, but leave the air on..work that trigger-You will have to wipe the tip dry every 10 seconds or so, but even leave your air on when you do this..-working the trigger of your airbrush is the key to success.. go on back to practice now--

Re: Createx
Aprill, have you tried thinning your Createx with 70% Isopropyl Alcohol? Take a 1oz. bottle 1/4 paint 1/4 alcohol and a couple drops of retarder. Are you using two hands to hold the brush? A airbrush cleaning kit(small brushes) would be GOOD investment. Charles

Re: Createx
I have been using the Fantastic/water 50/50 mixture for thinning auto-air so I tried it in crearex and it seems to work well also. I don't put much but it seems to flow better.

Re: Createx
Aprille, there's a great site online that carries almost everything Airbrush.
They also carry the bottles and Caps like the ones you have.
Airbrush Supplies
As for the overspray, you might try checking you're air pressure. Depending on the surface you are spraying you need to adjust your air pressure accordingly. I actually add air pressure when I'm doing Tye-Dye on plexiglass to give the colors a more softer edge and to blend the design together a little bit.
I've added some pics below to show what I mean. Please forgive the reflections, I'm not accomplished of a photographer. Also, the door was done using masking to avoid the overspray.
I hopr this helps some.

Re: Createx
If your spraying on tees. do not thin your paint! If you must, do it with just a few drops of extender or distilled water. If you thin it to much it will, thin the binders to much and lose it's washfulness and fade when you wash the tee. Turn up your air pressure to 50- 80 psi and practice painting faster. I don't reccomend thinning createx or aqua flow with anything but extender or a few drops of distilled water. Also createx's opaque colors are the worst paint to practice with, or use. Use the transparent. I have recently switched to all Aqua Flow paint, and they spray much better than createx and the colors are more rich too. The opaque aqua flow is alot smoother than createx and spray nice.

Re: Createx
Thanks for all the advice! Barshark where did you get the rack from. I make jewelry I never thought of spaying my racks with my company colors. I knew I eventually wanted to make a sign for my booth! Those are too cool.

Re: Createx
Thanks, I built the rack myself and had a local company powdercoat it for me. You can check it out more in depth at my website www.kolordawgs.net . I mainly use the Auto Air but I do branch off into House of Kolor and PPG on occasion depeding on what I'm about to paint.

Re: Createx
I've never really had too much probem shooting Createx with one exception... The White!! Apparently white is hard no matter what brand you use. I found a company called Tri-Art that makes a white that's a little more user friendly, but even it get's trying at times...
Here's the link...

Re: Createx
I find if u thin Createx white with Extender it flows very well. I have 2 bottles of Aquaflo, 1 white, 1 black and I dont feel an urgecy 2 use them my
Createx flows fine as I mention earlier Extender does the trick so buy a big bottle 32 oz. and use like 10 to 15 percent in you bottles. As for vibrant colors im gonna have 2 give the AquaFlo a try but I've been Using Createx so long and U know what they say, "If it aint broke, dont try 2 fix it...."

Re: Createx
I’m curious about the differences in the airbrushes with the createx paint. I have an Iwata eclipse HP-CS. I got the black to spray good by thinning it a lot, but I tried the same mix with other colors, and had no luck. I will try the extender, but I’m about ready to buy some different paint.

Re: Createx
I found an extender that works really well with the createx at Hobby Lobby, it's Liquitex Airbrush extender, it looks like milk.
