Rattle can clear would be fine. Rustoleum Crystal Clear, Duplicolor Clear, or if you have an autopaint dealer near you and want to spend more $ for a harder finsh then see if you can find U-POL #1 15-18$ a can, but I think it is worth it for projects that are your own.

It all depends on what kind of a finish and how hard you want it. Regular rattle can clears you get a walmart or the hardware store never get really hard and scratch easy. The Upol is 1 stage automotive and will get harder than the others. Takes a week or 3 if you lay on 5 coats but you can get a really nice finish without buffing. I can get a really nice finish with the rustoleum as well, but it does scratch ez. You can always wet send with 1500 and give it a few more coats if it gets all scratch up in use.
The products I listed are the ones I use. I think I wrote reviews for these in the product review area of the forum under solvent based paints.
Hope this helps!

I like Krylon Crystal Clear Gloss #1301.

That's what I use for guitars and homemade effects boxes.

Da best for me.
