Default Newbie practice work

Hi Guys,

I am pretty new at this game and have been playing around for about 6 weeks now. A present I am copying images I see. I started on a fridge in the garage at home using Auto Air colours and some cheap airbrushes of ebay (none more than £30) I am now trying cellulose and would like to move on to urethanes.

I make my own stencils from parts of the image and just have a play and improvise on the original image, I have tried to do work freehand but I am not that good at drawing...copying seems to be easier at the moment.

I have posted up a couple of the images, the fridge is the start and the canvas work is me getting better (I hope)

I am hoping to get good enough to do some work on a chopper that I am building.

I am having great fun but am suffering from inexperience which is why I am looking to you guys for advice.

That looks very good IMO for only 6 weeks or so. That is much better than I would do (I haven't started quite yet). I wouldn't know where to start with the shadowing, etc. I see you tried a little bit of that plane art kind of thing with the women there, that will be awesome when you get that down. I love some plane art and such on hot rods and bikes.
Good luck!!!

I love your use of color-- I think your work is very attractive & I don't see any reason for delay in starting your chopper--it's evident that you're a quick learner & you'll only get better..

I have no problem with the images.

Btw, I've been airbrushing for a year, and I can't do a fridge like that yet.

I don't think a chopper would be a problem. You don't have to be good at freehand to airbrush. You're good with stencils, and can make them yourself, so you have all you need for now.

Freehand technique will come I'm sure.

Nice work.

Hey guys thanks for the feedback I am continuing to try various things. I will post up some of my other efforts when I get them finished. I have tried cellulose but find that harder to work with than Auto Air Colours.

I need to learn how to do true flames but can't find any good images to use as references.....anybody got any ideas?
