Default Plotter!!!

saw this in a add A hp Designjet750c for sale for 1000 SKR = $128 US
But it needs a new driving (transmisson)belt to me it sounds pretty cheap
well,,i have to admit that i don't know anything about these machines
how it works and so on,at first i thought that it cuts out designs
but obviously it dosen't,it's like a big printing machine,,right,,
in that case i might would have some use for one, make prints of my paintings
(not having to sell the orginal painting all times), for a much lower price ofcourse
or use it to print out designs, maybe it would work with printing on frisket too
are there any one who has a plotter who can explain a little what you can do with it,and if it's a waste of money for a hobby artist like me to buy
one,,maybe the driving belt is pretty expensive, that's the reason for the low
price

Here is the hp support paged

And another

Looks like a roll of paper is as much as you will pay for the broken unit

Good luck and be carefull.

Hey guys, I use a plotter almost the same model as this at work with the engineering staff. Its a great machine but it is very costly to operate. It uses seperate color cartridges just like a smaller printer but at about $125 Us per cartridge and they usually hold 4. As Doug said, it is roll fed and the paper rolls are expensive also. We mostly use it for Auto Cad layouts and a couple guys use Auto Cad Inventor which is cool. They draw machines in 3d and can actuall animate them right on the screen. They usually plot the drawings for the fab shop to build them. They print exceptionally well using JPEG file format. GIF's are no good because the pixels are too large. Anyway, hope that helps Kimmo!

Thanks venture1
I made a research on The costs of a new driving belt to this machine
oopss..that was pretty expencive about 400 $ but that was with a
service,,hmm,,,that would be over 500$ before i could start using it
it's little to much money for this "toy" at this time,,,

It gives near-photo-quality but it really is ideal printer for your CAD, GIS Small ink cartages are around $17.00 each. Paper semi-gloss photo roll cost around $70.00 Keep in mind the repair could be as simple as a drive gear up to the main gearing or drive motor. Motor cost to replace around $700/900 to reset and re-program unit. If you are looking to print posters you well not get that good of a finish but if it is for drawings or banners it is ok. If you can afford the chance it is well worth it but I would think the person knows what is wrong with it and the cost for repair to be parting with it for such a low price.
