Default compressor settings

I have a Paasche 500 comp and PaascheVL brush, the comp has small brass fitting with somesort of set screw that has some sort of lock nut to it. I put regulater valve with water trap on to it , I either have approx 30-35 lbs pressure or none at all. what do I use for correct settings.

What type of paint are you spraying? Those type compressors will only give you 30-35 psi max. If you are using createx will will have to reduce the heck out of it to spray at that pressure. I typically use 60 psi to paint createx. 30-35 psi is the lowest pressure I use for any paint other then createx.

Paasche 500 comp

that compressor will give you nothing but heart ache

if thats all you have use a illustration type paint such as Golden Airbrush Colors, Comart or Dr PH Martins (the pigments are groud finer in those paint they will flow better) and a gravity feed airbrush

Just about any compressor other than a diaphragm compressor which the D500 is.

mkozio, what kind of paint do you plan on using, and what kind of work are you planning on doing?
Those things paly a huge part, along with the type of airbrush you are going to use, in deciding what kind of air source is best for you.
There are other things to consider aswell, things like noise, space, power, will you be mobile or working at home, like will you be working for little short spans of time at a time, and so on. All those things play into the decision making.
If you are just starting out, and you aren't sure whether you really want to do this or not, then you might consider leasing a CO2 tank, that would let you spray without the need for power, noise worries, mobility, maintainance (other than getting the tank refilled), the type of paint you are going to use, the type of brush, or the kind of work. If you decide that airbrushing isn't for you, then you can return the bottle and get your deposit back, if you do like it, you can keep on with the CO2, or get a compressor that will suit your needs. But this will give you a chance to learn to airbrush, and to find out what you really need out of a compressor. Then you can do your shopping intellegently.
