WOW !! Special Contest

* In cooperation with Airbrush Technique, one of our own members (Spiderman) is sponsering this Special Contest to design Business Logo for the upcoming opening of his new Art Store. This logo is to be used for business cards, letterheads, store front, any things Shawn desires.

* This Special Contest is open to all registered members.


* Airbrushed art only.

* Voting for this contest will be conducted in the same manner as all other monthly contests, by subscribing members only, but Shawn ( Spiderman) will have the final word as to the winning design and will aquire full ownership of the winning design.

* The winning designer of the Business Logo will recieve a $ 500.00 U.S. Money Order awarded through the Pay Pal service. (U.S. $$$)

* The Business Logo should be designed around all aspects of fine art, sculpting, painting, airbrushing, clay, and glass, targeting and attracting Professional Creative Artisians.

* This will be a business that supports art from a physical store with some internet support, the name of Shawn's new store will be "DOWNTOWN ART SUPPLY" located in Burlington Ontario, Canada. As added info I have included a picture of the store front.

* This contest will start 12/17/07 and run through 1/24/08 with (1) week for voting, and will supersede any contest that was scheduled for January, but this contest could be extended if there is not a significant number of entries to choose from. This is a VERY GENEROUS prize that Shawn is posting, he expects to have a vast number of very nice logo designs to choose from, at the prize posted I don't see that as a problem, so come on people put your thinking caps on and design a WINNER!

Thanks Niclas, it's very exciting! We've targeted May 1 - June 1 2008. I need the logo earlier though for tickler ads, business cards and that sort of thing.

Everyone should try, it's really good experience to try to come up with a design for a customer specification. So I'm hoping lots of people will try it out and have some fun with it!

Thumbs up Shawn, I'm very excited for you! Normally I wouldn't even think of trying to design a logo; I'm a technical guy, leave the marketing stuff to marketing people, but for you I'll give it a try

What does "physical store with some internet support" mean? "Normal" people have to come visit you but I can buy stuff ridiculously cheap if I email you?

Hi Dom, It will go on the awning and the backlit sign on the front lawn as well as any promotional material such as ads business cards etc. Don't limit yourself to the green background, the material on the awnings can be any color. Ideally a logo that could be rendered in shades of gray for newsprint and fax type applications would be best, however this would be basic logo design considerations.

Thanks Niclas, I'm glad you are going to try it out, you never can tell where the winning design might come from. Yes the store will be what is known as "Click and Mortar" meaning there is a physical location that you can walk into and browse around and try stuff out as well as an on-line order facility that allows you to buy stuff ridiculously cheap Then you can pay the outlandish shipping, duty and handling fees

Hey Spidey this is such good news your own shop you must be over the moon. I myself will not take part in this competition we all know that this is way out of my A/B range at the moment. But I look forward to seeing what people come up with and I am sure that you will be making a site for the shop so dont forget to post the link and any progress pics of the interior that I am sure you will be doing. Hi Neder, Yup, I'm grinning ear to ear! Its so exciting and so much work too. I will definitely add some links and pictures as things move along. I can't do to much yet as there are existing businesses in the building. But once the spring comes, stuff will start to move fast and furious!

Also a big thanks to Don and Brush for helping to put this whole thing together. With any new venture you have to try to differentiate yourself from your competition. I'm thinking this qualifies for "out of the box" thinking!

Damn, figured out my evil plan! Take over the world through manipulation of the foreign exchange. Still haven't figured out why paypal only gave me like .97 cents per every dollar on the transfer to Don though. Somebody's making a small fortune at paypal!

Hi Diaz, thanks and nope it's not a franchise, at least not yet anyway . My wife and I are the owners and we do have plans for additional stores down the road a ways. I'd like to see 3 in 5 years and then see how it goes from there. So the contest is for the design of the logo. This may or may not include the name of the store. It would really depend on the logo design. I'll attach the logos of some competitors as this may give some idea of what's already out there, but I really don't want to limit anybodies thinking. We have not finalized a font, so if the design incorporates the store name, then the corporate font will be closest to whatever the logo design uses.

I'm thinking we can do better........
