My little secret on making the outline is to use a colored pencil that matches the the lightest color of paint that I'll be using. In this case I used a yellow ochre. The majority of his skin is a faded yellow with lots of dark brown for the shaded areas. The pencil marks will pretty much disappear when the paint goes on. I would highly recommend Prisma Colored Pencils because the material they're made of is much softer than your average pencil and allows it to show up better.
