There is also the masking tape trick...if you see the run while its still wet that is.
Loosely bend a strip of tape into a wide "loop"...sticky side out...and heres the tricky part....JUST BARELY touch the run and pull back....you may have to repeat that several times, but if your careful not to touch anything but the run itself and the paint is still wet....most of the time you can remove the excess paint cause the run and still being wet...it will flow out pretty smooth on its own. Sometimes you may be able to "float" a little more paint on the area to further aid the flow out.
Like I said...its tricky, but, its another method and if the run is a monster....doing this can save you some time sanding later...although you may not get away with no sanding....it can cut down on the time.
