I have no idea which part are you describing, so you might need to post what model of Iwata you have and which part are you trying to disassemble for someone to help.
It might be a good idea to thin paints too much initially. Ie, thinner than skim milk (I'm talking about water based acrylics I'm using). Spray on paper, learning to control the a/b. You'll get a hang of basic operation that way and will not risk clogging up the brush quickly. During next sessions, mix paints gradually thicker. You might not need to disassemble the brush at all, apart from removing the needle (to wipe it), and perhaps taking out needle cap / nozzle cap.
FWIW, my Iwata HP-B was easy enough to disassemble with a help of rubber grip.
