    Default Pin UPs

We have always tried to be a family friendly web site in the hopes of getting more young people involved in the art form. A web site parents will have no problem letting their kids view.

Maybe its time to throw it out again "should pin ups be allowed in the gallery or with posts?"

If so how revealing is to revealing? Who is to decide what is to revealing, whats fine art or just trash?

I've also put the question before the forum advisory board but I would like the general memberships thoughts on this subject.

    Your thoughts please.

There could be a seperate gallery but pictures from that gallery would appear above the forum with all the rest, sort of defeating the purpose of the seperate gallery. Could that be corrected problay but it won't be cheap $$. Or we could just drop all the pictures from appearing above the forum.

Censorship is a whole nother can of worms that has at least two sides that could be debated at lenght.

A very interesting and rather large can of worms brother.

As I said in my other post defining where the lines are that define what should or shouldn't be seen here is a damn tall ask.
I do believe that the majority of us should be mature enough to know the difference between tasteful art, be it a nude or pin-up, and what could be considered "P0rN"
If I may illustrate for a moment, while I was at a course on the weekend I met some fantastic people, one in particular was a very talented young man named Andy.
I watched him turn a simple idea into a beautiful piece of art that I believe illustrates the Art side of this discussion.

Personally I believe everyone on earth should see this piece as it is a credit to Andy's work but it is also a beautiful and amazing piece that I am in total awe over.

You know one thing that gets me, here we are discussing an important issue and then we have a new member with a username that I think goes a tad far.

Censorship, is such a tough call

I'm not bothered by nudity at all..I'm stark naked under my pajamas this morning!! I have no way of knowing but I would venture to say that membership age of 18 or under would be less than hardly any percent..you may have records on that Don..I'm a woman of some age & have seen a great bit--I can also talk like a fisherman's wife, but when in public I don't..so in my estimation if we exchanged bad & foul language it would be far worse than viewing a painted pin-up..If I glance at a post & have no interest or if it should offend me slightly (that's not going to happen!!) I simply move on..nudity is nothing more than the study of anatomy, & every artist would benifit studying that before moving on to portraits, etc..If we removed nudity from todays famous art galleries housing many famous Masters paintings it well may clean them out..I agree with rowie that as mature adults we certainly can tell the difference between a well done pin-up & something that's just nasty..at the present I have no plans to paint nudes or pin-ups but I have no reason to tell someone else that they can't..

kimmo no offence taken, I do pin ups myself just don't post them here

the forum has grown to the point it needs to govern itself which is the point of my questioning members on this issue

Don , if it come down to having a separate gallery for pin-up, why not had the viewers sign on before they can view the nudes

Personally.. as a father and as an artist (more a pencil artist than airbrusher)...
I have no issue with nudes depicted in art whatsoever. Actually, I have no issue with nudity in general at all. I've never airbrushed any nudes however I have drawn many nude portraits and life drawings. My children are young but we have never hidden any nude art or things like that from them as we believe in developing a healthy body image and a healthy appreciation for all forms of art.

I don't believe in separation or censorship of any kind.. however I recognize that I most likely sit in the minority there.

If need be, I think a separate gallery for nude, semi nude, fine art nude, pinups etc would be fine.

However, there is a slight irony in that all sorts of other images that could be considered detrimental and 'harmful' (whatever that really means) to younger viewers are allowed.. the skulls and monster and violent images etc. Again, I have no problems with them at all. I am my children's censor and while I don't prevent them from viewing such art, I am always there to explain the art to them in a way in which they are able to grasp that it is art.. and nothing more sinister or harmful or offensive or whatever.

It is a major issue for some people and I recognize it.. but I think that when you run an art site.. and you charge subscription fees, there has to be some consideration to those artists that excel at things like pinups and nudes.

Just my 2 cents.. 1.6 cents American.

The subscription fee's are for the magazines there is no fee as you know for using this web site, it's free and open to everyone in the airbrushing commuinty. Just as HowToAirbrush.Com is free and open to anyone in the airbrush commuinty. Both I foot the bill for totally out of my own pocket, both I have spent 100's if not 1000's of hours building, maintaining.

There is now a forum (as of last night) for those artist that wish to share pin up, nude art.

    Have a nice day.
