I use dots, daggers, & linework every day I work..I painted 41 shirts today, & while I was in the middle of one of them I wondered to myself how many dagger strokes were in a typical shirt..I can tell you it's a whole lot..each sparkle is 8 dagger strokes, & I probably have a 9 sparkle minimum to each shirt..I firmly believe that each airbrush stroke is started with a dot & usually stopped with a dagger (especially in cursive lettering)..so regardless if you're aware of it or not, airbrushing is a continuous succession of dots & daggers.. I feel you must know how to accomplish the fundamental brush strokes (there's only two or three) or you won't advance far with the craft of airbrushing....That's my opinion..

Being new, a whole session is practice and just might consist soely of doing daggers et al. I am fairly confident now with my dots, but still throw a line of them in too. It is a great way to warm up and try things out, it gives you a standard that you can compare things too. Like buying new paints or trying out a new brush. If only there was a market for pagers of lines and dots that haven't been put into a pretty configuration modern art maybe?

I try to do a warm-up every time I paint, but only paint on average about once/month, so that's how I voted

    hmm,, i have to confess i'm to lazy,,i know i should practice,,but
i'm little strange i guess,,(i guess you found out)thinking,,i'll get the feeling while painting,,,well,,,airbrushing is just a hobby of mine so that's maybe why i am slapdash person in that matter,,i know that's a bad excuse,,,,

I agree with landsbro...but it's not a hobby to me..I enjoy it so much that one day I want my own shop to do t's ,tanks ,hoods, fine art you name it I want to do it so I have to push myself for the better and as darla says fundamentals....

I don't paint full time either .I wish I coiuld paint more. I think I spend more time on this forum than I do painting . Everthing else crowds it out. I love it when I can though!
