    Default Fire color intensity?

This is a recent little gas powered mini motorcycle front fender project that is currently in the works. One of these is the original photo, and the other two are photoshopped to adjust the color intensity level only. Which picture contains the color level that you would prefer and why? The pictures are numbered 1,2, and 3 and in order. Thanks in advance.

Brad, I spent a couple of minutes flipping between the three pics and decided on number two. In my opinion, it has more of the orange quality I like on that colored flame. The intensity is good as is on it but I'm sure all three would change after clear.... but I'll go with number 2.

I agree with CDV and Dean, One and two are both good but I tend towards #2. It's a little warmer and pulls you into the fire a little more. JMO

Well I,m sure no expert and when it comes to fire or flames I suck. But looking at all three I would have to say that I am also drawn to number two.

Thanks everyone for participating. The majority rules, but not always! The objective of this poll is to let new airbush artist know the color intensity level (saturation of the color) that the higher percentage of people seem to prefer when airbushing fire or viewing. Still it is important to develop your own styles, color variations, fire variations, color levels, shapes, and techniques. It is also equally important to learn what the majority likes or dislikes, if you are going to airbrush for money. Sometimes customers come to you becuase of your specific style and sometimes they come to you with specifics that do not alow much for your style.

Like I said the majority rules but not always. Though I like number "2", and picked it also, the owner is stuck on number "1" the best, number "2" second. Usually I strive to shoot for what the majority will like, though every now and again you have to make the minority happy with the airbrushed project as well. Anybody wan't to add on to this theory, feel free. This can be some very usefull info for everyone, I know it is for me, with all your help. Thanks.

I like 2 as well it has the most realistic oranges.

It also has a light for lack of a better word. It ... like a real flame grabs you and makes you want to look deeper into it.

    Geeez......I sound like a pyro dont I?

On number one the top yellow flame sticks out more.
On number two the red-orange seems to come through more.
on number three the bottom flame comes through.

    Brad,

Ya know I love your work!

Honestly......I'm somewhere between 1 and 2. The red glow on #2 is very intense.......almost overpowering. On number 1, it just isn't quite enough for my taste. If I had to choose between them, I like 2 best, but like I said, I prefer a bit less than what's there, but that's nit-picking! Will be a sweet mini-bike regardless!

I agree with everyone else #2 has a nice flow to it and really pops. Like Snuff said it kinda draws you in to look at it deeper. I am truly surprised that I can't quit get the true fire down yet since I am kind of a pyro. I always build the bonfires when up north or at a friends where he can have them. I will tend to it all night and just sit there and stare at the flames for hours watching the movement of it.

I was going to write the exact same thing as Tom, but the more I thought about how to put it into what I wanted to say I couldn't write it any better than has already been said!

number 2, it has the hottest flame in my opinion, seems to go a little deeper than 1, 3 has a slightly washed out look, but if 3 was sitting there without 1 or 2, no doubt it'd look great in my opinion.

I have to go with #2
The saturation of the color helps bring out the detail and helps make the flames stand out from the dark background color.

For all the images/the original photo, I would not have used a flash aimed directly at the fender or painting, instead I would use a bounced light or at least a difuser. I think the intensity of the light kind of washes out much of the subtle detail and color from the center of the image. But that's just me.
