    ALSA the equipment alone to do that is almost $8000.00.

    The other I've never heard of it's waterbased though.

    Hi don

    I know the stuff is very expensive;
    But it can be cheap if the result is like on the photos and videos seen on their web site

    Have you aleady see the result in real ( not through pictures or video )?
    Maybe during a airbrush and paint show in US , some of you gone to ALSA stand

    Thanks artworld;
    I always find cheap solutions by the same way as your. I do my glows in the dark with powder i buy in england. Clear in germany,airbrush stuff in italia.....,

    I've tried many chrome paints from different company , ( HOK, metalflake, ...) but the result is far from be Good, closer to aluminium look instead of Chrome.
    What is suprising is the way that chome paint from Alsa is applied. It seems to be a reaction between different products and their advertising video are very impressive, but how to get not just a video or advertising but see a real piece painted with this chrome paint,
    Maybe someone on this forum has just see a real piece (tank , pin, table , or whatever ...) painted with this chrome stuff.
    I receive many email where customer asking me if i do chrome paints , i ve received a call from a luxual furnitures company to chrome all kind of stuff( metal , plastic, glass ...etc!!!) I've said no,.....
    That's the reason i'm looking for informations about chrome paints, ALSA or another one...., my main problem is to get opinion from guys whose already seen the real result , not the opinion of ALSA seller.

    Thanks again

    !!!!

    Pat I have used a fair few of the ALSA products, the local agent is not far from me, the ghost chrome and mirror chrome water based paints are so easy to use and deliver AMAZING results.

    http://www.kmccorporation.com/produc...rrachrome.html

    Just for an example I used ALSA/KMC mirror chrome on a pair of hot rod mirrors that were damaged in an accident, the guy didn't have time to get new mirrors cut and mounted so we cut up some thin ply and I painted it, worked brilliantly*

    Their candies and other mystic effects are really fun and easy to use.

    Hey Pat. I've used the ALSA chrome paint a few times and it came out real good. Liked it alot. took a few trial pieces to get the hang of it, getting it smooth but it was worth it. Just got back from the SEMA show in vegas and they had some really cool new paints. One that I thought was really something was a leather/fabric paint just like their chrome! We are doing the couch's in our shop lounge in that stuff.

    I've used the ALSA chrome on smaller projects as a base instead of white. It makes for a cool reflective effect after my painting is cut in with black. I don't know if it's water based, but it smells a bit like alcohol, and flows smooth as silk, even thru .3 nozzles.
    HOK has a version, but it's solvent based, doesn't flow well thru detail nozzles, and takes at least a day to cure before you can clear.
    Both the chrome effects cover VERY fast, and require much less paint than ordinary BC, though much more expensive.
    Happy Thanksgiving...

    I have seen the samples ALSA shows in person, and yes, they are as nice as their photos show. Their Ghost Chrome and Mira-Chrome paints are wonderful too, but they aren't the same as the FX Chrome.
    One of the things that people like ALSA have achieved with their paint that most of the home remedies haven't is stability and consistency in their products. While you might see the cost of the individual elements needed for a particular type of paint as being cheap, what you don't see is that most of the time there are large minumum amounts for each of those components, and that you end up buying a whole lot more than what you actually need or want for your work, and the shipping costs on top of those larger amounts costs you a great deal more than buying a pre mixed paint that can actually get you some customer support from the company and from others who have used the same goods.
    Doing stuff on the cheap can be good sometimes, but you need to pick your battles. The old adage of "You get what you pay for" generally holds true.

    I'm not surprised that they (ALSA) limits painting contests to the usage of only their paint, why would they reward the use of someone else's paint? HOK, PPG< and the rest do exactly the same thing. They want to be able to use the artwork for advertisement and marketing, and they aren't very likely going to want to show off a competitor's products. As far as them changing the rules, they state that up front, just like everybody else does, that they can change the rules at any time, and without any public notice. It gives them a way to protect themselves from those trying to exploit loopholes in the rules or instructions.
