    Default Automotive Lacquer Thinners?

What is a good automotive laquer thinner that I can use for HOK acrylic lacquers? Is there a brand that I can pick up at Home Depot or Lowes that is a little cheaper than the HOK brand?

I would stay with their brand reducer/thinner when mixing with paint but You should be able to use the cheaper lacquer thinner for cleaning purposes.

Thanks. I had a few people tell me I can use Acetone. I am just trying to find something to clean my airbrush really well.

lacquer thinner is some pretty strong stuff, any brand ougt to do the trick.
P.S. don't use it to remove paint off of polystyrene (styrene) plastics such as plastic model car bodies, it will melt the plastic

There is always a lot of talk about staying with a manufacturer when it comes to the various paints, reducers, hardeners and for the most part that is the correct thing to do. But with lacquer, as long as the thinner is a high quality you should be just fine. I buy gun cleaning thinner from my local auto paint store and they will tell you that the stuff is not suitable for mixing, but they have other "levels" of thinners that are very good. I have mixed thinners and paints for years without any problems.

    hello kelsey
the best idea is to use the hok brand of reducer for the acrylic, by trying to save money using another brand will bite you on the ass, as hok is one of the only brands to not be cross referenced by other brands, using a no name reducer could be desaustours.
    sorry carnt spell for shit
    but i hope this helps
