    Default House of Kolor paint?

Hey everyone, I have been thinking to switch from createx to either auto-air or house of kolors. Just looking for suggestions. How much reducing is suggested, what air pressure should I be shooting for ect... Thanks and I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving.

What are you going to paint on, and what kind of facilities do you have for doing your painting?

You need to look at the finished project or goal and decide what kind of paint you need based on that. There are tons of paints and paint types out there, but without knowing what you plan on doing, we're just shooting in the dark.

Also keep in mind that there are toxicity issues with paints, some more so than others, those issues can make a huge difference in what and where you paint.

Auto Air and House of Kolor are both really good paints in my opinion. There is a big difference between the two though. Auto Air is a waterbased or waterbourne paint and House of Kolors is a solvent based paint. With House of colors you will need adequate ventilation in your work area and have to wear a respirator. Like fontgeek said it really depends on what you are doing and what type of surface you are spraying on. Hope this helps.

The reality is that you need ventilation and protection for your lungs and body no matter what kind of paint you are using.

There is a common misconception that because a paint is water based that it's not toxic, or that it can't/won't do damage to you.
Even watercolors will do damage to your lungs and sinuses, coating surfaces that are supposed to introduce the oxygen into your body. Some of those paints may break up and get coughed out, but many or most won't. Add the toxicity issues from the paints themselves and you have a lot to deal with and protect yourself from.

Keep in mind that anything other than air that is introduced into your lungs can do damage, some of it permanent.
You can replace dust masks and filter cartridges, you can't replace your lungs or body.

Alright, I do appreciate the responses thus far. I thank you guys for the concern about ventilation and wearing proper safety gear. I am a carpenter and a paranoid safety nut of one at that. So I already understand the need to protect myself from toxic fumes. Ok, to answer questions. Fontgeek, I am looking to start painting metal. Using metal as my canvas. I want everything I work on to be a project so I decided to start doing paintings on 1/8 metal. Then framing them with some oak or whatever I have lying around. In the big picture I am a car guy so in the future (way future) I am looking to do cars, motorcycles and such. I already dick around with painting on metal with my pinstriping and gold leaf stuff. Now I am looking to putting down some airbrushing. So I would like to get advice from you people so I don't spend a shit load of time, and $$$ figuring things out on my own. Any advice is greatly appreciated even nightmare stories of what happend when you did this or that are welcome so I dont make the same mistake. Thanks everyone.

In my experience I have noticed that when you clearcoat Auto Air Colors it tends to fisheye the clear. I have tried applying clear like recomended by Auto Air with a tack coat and allowing the AA to acclimate with the clear, but still will get fish eyes. So I have decided to switch over to House of Kolor for anything I am going to use a 2 part clear on.
