Default First try with Etac (white and black)

Ok everyone, I've been spraying AA, Createx and lately AutoBourne and Wicked paints. I spray in the basement so Uro's is a no no for me. Tonight I got some Etac White and Black and here is what I feel about the stuff.

I have sprayed with Uro's in a class I took and Etac is as close to how Uro's spray that I have found so far. With AutoBourne and Wicked, especially the white and black, I still have a tip dry problem. Not nearly what I have when using the AA or Createx but it still happens. With the Wicked White, I'd have to pick at the tip every few minutes but tonight with the white Etac, I sprayed for over 30 minutes and didn't need to pick the tip. I didn't reduce the paint any, used it right out of the bottle. Honestly, it sprays sweet!

Unfortunately, the white I bought is their transparent and it didn't do much better at covering the blue denim I was spraying on so I'll have to buy some of the Opaque to try.

Overall, I'm quite satisfied with the product.

Hey Cliff I have been using Etac for some time now. I met the European reps last year at an airbrush show they are based in Belgium. If you are going for opaque then you want their private stock, I guessing that you have fx . One tip I did get from them was about thinning, if don’t want to use a reducer they say it is better to use bottle water instead of tap water I do not know how your water supply is where you are but here it is quite hard and bottle water is much softer. Anyhow I am glad that you like the paint and as you say tip dry in nearly non existent.

Thanks for the info Neder. I already had read that about using Distilled water. It has to do with the minerals in normal water. I'm afraid IF I used our tap water that I would have a problem with tip dry for sure. Real hard water at my place. I really do like that paint!

Kwit, just curious, can it be used on automotive applications as AA can be? If so, any problems with clears?

I haven't used ECTAC, and haven't actually seen it at any stores here in the Denver area. Where do you guys buy it at?

Greger, its Etac, I think Don was typing fast and got in another letter. I bought it online from the source. Some catalogs have it.... I think Coast Airbrush handles it but the home web site is
ETAC - Revolution in paint... Home

Seriously does flow like Uro's, I'm really impressed especially how much Wicked and AutoBourne I have sprayed.

Cdv, Yes both Private Stock and EFX can be used on Automotive and I use it on most of my work, no problems with the clear. I used AA (Old and New), Private Stock and EFX on my tailgate. Private Stock and EFX can also be mixed if needed.
Couple of key things to remember.
Private Stock (PS)is normally used on Plates, T-Shirts and Auto for a base coat and always heat between layers.
EFX is "rewettable" and easy to erase from the surface (that's why it's not used on T's). It's great for illustrations, Clayboard, and top layers for fine details on Automotive. I have used it on top of AA and PS. Heat set also between layers. You don't want to use it as a Basecoat.
If you haven't done it already, you may want to go to Eddy and Marissa's (Europe) Website and Download the User Guides and Color wheels. Very Helpful info.support
I hate sounding like a salesman but I hope that helps and below are some things (Canvas, Auto and Clayboard) done using Etac.............................................. .Kwit

Greger , I order offline the same as cdv. If you have any questions you can also always call Bill or Chris directly on the Contact page. They are based in Al so there on EST time. I'm also not sure if the paints are sold in any stores yet either................Kwit

Cliff, Etac has been around a few years and I think Createx finally tried to get their paint to flow like ETAC

Just noticed your post. FYI, They (Etac USA) is updating their site but if you see a paint or paint kit on the Etac Europe site (which is updated) you can always call Bill or the guys directly and order by the paint codes (ie... FXHS 517 etc.)........................Kwit

Used Etac a couple of times......Jammer helped me out of a "Jam" during a demo at Fayette County Vo-tech last year.......I forgot to fill my bottle of white AA before I left my shop, and didn't have enough to finish the demo. He hooked me up with some Etac White......no problems on the demo hood, and no crazy problems laying it over AA.

I remember how well it flowed.....nice stuff. I experimented with the remainder of the bottle he gave me......really liked it.

I use ETAC white and love it! I use waterbased carpaints (Du Pont, if someone knows this brand) and even mix those with ETAC - works for me. Used it on helmets, metall, fabriks.
