Default Do you infrared curing lamps?

If you do, what kind are you using?

I've been looking at one of Infratech's single lamp lights.
I would think it would be enough for the smaller motorcycle tanks and fenders.

I'm curious what folks are using for force curing.

    Thanks

I recommend them,...I have two of these and they work great. I use them mostly for speeding up primer, but they would work fine with clear as well. I would suggest two though so that you heat both sides of the tank at once giving you a more even cure. You have to be real careful with distance when curing,... these things will create a lot of heat and if you are not careful, it's real easy to screw up a paint job or warp a plastic part. I like the fact that they use 120 as a power source as well so you can plug them in anywhere.

I would so dig a set of those! I did a search and realized that they are just a weeeee bit out of my price range.

As a cheaper alternative, I just did a test to see if my regular shop lights would make a difference in speeding up the clear coat drying process. I use the same lights this artist uses:

I left them on over night, placed two on the bottom and two on top and I noticed a massive difference in drying time. They are obviously not IR lights but a possible cheap alternative ($8)

I'd go with the clamp on lights, but I have a patience problem.
    Don't have none.

I've used the infrared lights on cars a lot, but don't want to use a 4 light set up in my little shop at home, so was looking to see what other folks use.
I suppose 4 of the clamp on lights with the bathroom infrared bulbs would work alright.
Think I'll give that a go. If nothing else, it'd be nice to have them in the shop to warm me up in the winter.

Also consider the Halogen 500 watts lights that they use in construction are not bad at all. Generates a lot of heat and light. Home Depot, or Lowe's depending where you live.

OzDesign - I bought a outdoor heating lamp from Bunnings for under $200 it is a IR lamp and will heat up a area of 3x3x2.4mt no problem will only take about 30minutes if current temps are 13 degree up to 22 degrees... and it is very cheap to run - downside is it is heavy weighs in at 7kg
