Hi guys, I'm wondering if a DA sander can be used to buff if you turn it down to ~3000rpm? I guess 6 in pads can be purchased? Would make my life easier seeing as I only have 2 hands!

I believe that the buffer's rpm is under 1000

It works great for meI have 5in and 6in pads. My local auto paint shop even sells 3in pads too. Make sure to get velcro backed, the pads with the string that you tie around the backing pad suck really bad. For the finish use the spounge pads for super sexy shine. Just remember that friction is the key, not down pressure!
As for RPMs I've heard to not exceed 4000. Don't forget to occasionally oil it too.
I have used my craftsman sander/buffer for about 3 mo with no probs whatsoever.

For your wool pads you want rpm 2000-1800
foam pads 1800-1400 depending on your compounds you choose to use..
These are good close numbers to work from...
Thanks guys. I'm off to get the one that i can hook up to my compressor.
