Default beginner - no propellant comin gthrough airbrush

I am new to airbrushing so forgive my stupidity.

I have just bought an Aztek A2203 airbrush and a Revell can of propellant.

I connect the can to the airbrush connector but I get no propellant coming through the airbrush. I have connected it tightly and the propellant can is full.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

Are you hooking your airbrush directly to the can, or is there a hose, and adaptor inbetween?

Has it worked for you at all?

Has the airbrush been used or tested before?

The button/trigger controls two functions, hence the term "Double Action".

Pushing down releases the air, pulling back releases paint.

So when you push down on the trigger, you get nothing?

It's probably too early in your "posting" career to put photos of your setup on the forum, but the more info you can give us the faster we can find a solution for you. Photos would help us see all the components you are dealing with.

Before you find you are disapointed (and you will) in the use of an airbrush with those little cans, and think that airbrushing is too much hassle, look at getting a compressor or a good sized CO2 tank.
Those little cans can be a nightmare, sometimes they have bad valves in them, they aren't regulated, so you can find your air pressure (it's actually CO2) going all over the place, and if you are using the airbrush much, you can plan on spending half your time on waiting for the cans to thaw out so that you can spray again! Oh yeah, those little cans are bloody expensive too!

Thanks, I will try to provide a few more details in response to your questions.

The airbrush connects to a hose and then there is an adapter at the end of the hose which screws onto the can.

It has not worked at all for me, today is my first time trying it (I am totally new to this). The airbrush has not been tested or used before, it is new out of the box.

The airbrush is single action, here is a link to the type I have.
Testors » Airbrushes » Airbrushes » Broad Stroke EZ Airbrush Set

I get nothing when I push down.

I will try to upload a few photos when my camera gets recharged.

    Thanks for the help.

No CO2 was heard leaving the can when I hooked it up. I was expecting that.

Looking more closely at the can it seems to contain butane, here si teh link to the can I have, if that is any help

meealan, without seeing the can I will guess from past exper. of mine that the hook-up fittings may be different for butane and co2 cans but if the butane do go thru. the airbrush, you will be playing with a dangerous gas

Thanks for the note of caution. I just asked the guy in the shop where I bought the airbrush and he gave me the Revell can.

if you are still having problems with it try installing one piece at a time start with the unit that screw unto the can and back it off when the gas escape then install the hose --airbrush

If all that's in that can is butane, then you are playing with fire! That's what's used in lighters as fuel.

Your brush is single action, with external mix.
    Was this brush new?
Can you show us a photo of the topside of the adaptor that goes on the can?
Preferably the view of the nob and the part where the hose connects to it.

If all else fails, take the whole setup back to the store where you bought it, and get them to show you if and how this setup is supposed to work. If they can't, then you should ask for your money back.
The adaptor shown looks like it has been around for a bit, the knurled face is beaten up and smeared. I know Paasche make a nice, solid metal valve attachment, it has the 1/4" hose fitting to hook up almost any airbrush hose to it.

No matter what, in the end you are going to need to get a more efficient and reliable air source to spray. Those little cans are a pain in the butt.
