    Default Real Fire first try

Well, up for scrutiny today is one turtle shell with my first attempt at airbrushing realistic fire. I'm fairly happy with it. I didn't have the right colors according to the dvd I rented, so I had to mix my own. I used acrylic enamel basecoats for the most part. Interesting enough though, I didn't have the candy colors called for, so I used auto-air semi-opaque red and yellow (water-based) instead. I was sure to heat gun dry the waterbased coats before laying down anymore solvent based paint, but there didn't seem to be any detrimental effects in this process. I cleared with Poly.
I'm really liking this new media outlet for my creativity, and I'm learning something new every day.

    So, what do you think?

I've just started (have equipment, but haven't put paint down yet). That's awesome work. Hope I can do that well someday

    Hi 420 :-) (i get it)
Yeah, I agree with you. I maybe should have used more white, and I think next time I do a small item like a helmet I will make a smaller templet for tighter and closer licks. Another disadvantage I have is I'm colorblind red/green tint, so what looks good to me maybe too red for others. I have to learn to adjust. Thanks for the critique.

not to shabby. Keep up the work and keep trying. To me it looks alittle overwellming. Now I know I'm by far not the best at this and am still trying to get it myself.

Keep on trying, they always get better the more you practice.
