Thread: Helmet- Hitt or Miss

This is a girl helmet design still in the works, that I created last night. It is for a female customer that said do what ever I want. So I tried my best to gather info and she was pretty blank to an idea. Here is what I know.

1. Silver , Black, and White street bike.
2. Loves pink but does not want a pink helmet.
3. She is a girly girl, also a total tomboy rough and tough.
4. She plays football.
5. Loves the full face skull hemets but does not want a skull helmet.
6. Has tatoos.
7. Every helmet she likes likes have the visor done.
8. Likes design helmets just as much as skull helmets.
9. Has Pink lights on her bike.
10. Wan'ts something that will be a hit.

So my question is "hit or miss" as of this point before I do any final rendering.
If miss or hit please tell me some ideas to make it even better. I hope it is not a Big Doomed situation, no matter what I do, when she gets it. Hit or Miss?

That looks great. I think you have set it up to her liking, pulse what L said with the tat covers all base's.

I like Luc's idea with the tribal..........but it also looks great just the way it is.

Thanks guys. I am not sure yet how the outcome will be but tommorow I will reevalute everything and try to make certain that I have a pretty fail proof way of making certain that she likes it. It will be a surprise to her because she doesn't want to see it till it is done. Oh boy, this could get bad. I will let you guys all know and show you the outcome of the helmet when it is a done deal. Wish me luck. 9 times out of 10 these kind of people seem to freak out at the end. No stress, no nerves left to stress out about. Thanks a ton though, I just have this odd feeling about it at this point. Some sleep should work, maybe. Good night.

I think this kicks major ass! Xtremely well tought trough and trough - from what she asked and what you did, I think you nailed it. The design looks girly, but still sinister. Its something between a fairy and a daemon. I am not a big fan of tribal tattoos or tribal designs but then again that might be just what the customer wants.
The way it looks now is off the chain, and I hope you wont need to change anything too much (...even better if you dont need to change a thing - hope that the girl is satisfied for a pro job like that and not a "I know what I want but I dunno how to get it" kind of girlie.)

Pro idea, pro craftsmanship and extremely pro overall result!

I have had this before as well. Someone says to you " do me a design on this for me, i dont know what though- just do something crazy" The helmet looks boss but even if she doesn't like it, its not your fault at all. She says " you are the artist you decide" but almost no 'artist' would pick a subject or idea with the sole purpose of pleasing people. An artist's job is too express themselves in whatever way they see fit! This girl wants a helmet 'design' and a designer's job is different to the artist. A designer must work to a brief, and it seems this brief she has given you is far too vague.

Hey Brad I think it,s a cool job considering that she was so vauge about the design and whats not to like about it you have incorporated everything that she has said. For me it,s a HIT HIT.

Here is an update. I made a little tribal design on the back of the head and placed her nickname "QT" in the center of the design. I also brought some things out more and pushed some back. Before I think it looked too man-like, so I changed some features in the face.

Also becuase the female owner likes foot ball I added some face paint but instead of going sideways under the eye, I made up my own face paint. Thanks for all the input. Do you think she will like the helmet? Does it look better or worse than before? Should I clear it now?

Thanks lsabourin. The idea worked out great and than I remembered one last thing, and it was that she had a nick name of QT. So I through it in with your idea.

Hey everyone. Thank you all for all the help and support.....She loved it so much.

When she walked in the door she was like a moth to a flame. She gazed straight at the helmet on the counter and almost seemed to float toward it. I was completely invisble as was everything else to her. When she finally spoke she said "it's me". Though she doesn't look that way, I may have painted how she views herself internally in an exadurated way. It felt great that she loved it but even better that somehow someway I was the painter who mentally conected with her mind. Truthfully I would like to think I was able to psychically conect in some magical way. In reallity it could have been the just being observant, and the proccess of elimination, and the majority usually rules. The majority being everyone here. So thanks and double thanks and tripple thanks.
