Hi all,
I have just started a new painting on glass today. The sky and the 3 planets were done from the back. The rest was painted on the front side. I used spray cans so far. To obtain the round shapes I used a kitchen ventilator's lid and two jamjar lids. The size of the glass is 35cmX85cm which came from an old window. I sanded the surface with 600 to 1000 grain size sandpaper before starting to paint.
I was painting it outside, just in front of the garden door, but suddenly it started to rain and I got some rain drops on the glass. Since those were the first drops some were pretty small and they made their own contribution to the painting's texture.
I actually want to put Santa Claus in this painting but I'm still looking for a good reference picture. If you know a link or sth you have tried before I would love to have a look at. I used to make father Christmas figurines, may be thousands of them when I was young working days and nights without much sleep for the new year. I even made some candle sticks of Santa's head and some tree decorations. Very pleasant to work on, I wish I had the same energy now.
Unfortunately I don't have any pictures from that period. We believe father Christmas is an international character for everyone and he is above religions. And, he actually proved this with helping me to earn good money then. He was the character who made me earn most during the new year's time. I love him anyway, even if I don't earn from him, he is a model we all wish to be around all the time.
