    Default Panda

Here is something I just finished. I originally thought I would like to do helmets and bikes ... but I think illustration might be where I would like to go. I did this with a BCS and Createx. I eventually would like to paint more photo realistic but it will come.

Nice job, Army. If you don't mind a suggestion, you might consider fading the green backgrounds edges to white so it doesn't compete with the Panda rather compliment it. Keep it up! You're off to a good start!

thanks Kevin (nice first name buy the way!!) Yes I am open to suggestions and appreciate any critique. I did this as practice on a newsprint paper pad. Working my way towards using the good stuff. The fade that you are talking about are you referring to the outside edges or the ones nearest the panda?
    Thanks

The outer edges of the green would be what I am referring to. What you have closest to the Panda are fine. You might also want to consider adding a touch of neutral grey to the green. This won't change the color drastically, but it will mute it and set it more into the background. Good to see someone doing what is often referred to as a 'final comp' (a 'practice' painting in preperation to doing the final art). You are on the right track, keep up the good work!

Looks great army. I use foam board - the back as I get old signs free from work. I just spray it with clear satin krylon as this gives a harder surface for masking and cutting.

Thanks for the comments guys and Kevin those are good tips, it is funny that you mention using a neutral gray because when I look at the reference photo it almost looks like the background was toned down with grey and in an article I was reading today another artist did the same thing to make his image stand out
    thanks again

P.S. My internet provider has been down since yesterday, I had to drive to my mother in laws to access my emails, what a pain in the butt!!!!!(just venting)
